I’m a certified Mat Pilates instructor through Balanced Body, and currently working through my comprehensive training.

Summer is coming to an end and fall is waiting in the wings. As we start to see days getting shorter, skies getting greyer, and the weather getting cooler it’s important to remember to keep up with a healthy movement practice.

The August Beginner Reformer semester is halfway over and registration begins soon for September. The Midweek Reset class will return this fall. Keep your eyes open for registration opening soon.

Do something nice for your body as we transition from summer into autumn. Move, breathe, regulate, reset, and build strength and body awareness with a consistent Pilates practice.

Reach out to me with any questions. I’m here to help and provide a safe and supportive environment to move your body in.

I’ve decided to offer a pop up multi apparatus class this Tuesday night at 7pm in lieu of my normal mat class as the studio that I go to (not the one I teach at) is on a summer break this week so no classes. Cost is $30, level is beginner friendly. Reach out if interested.

The August semester of the beginner reformer series is now open for booking. You can find the link to register in my bio or you can email or dm me. The beginner reformer classes are taught at a slower pace designed for intentionally exploring movement in your own body as well as learning the foundational concepts and traditional beginner level exercises. All bodies and levels of experience are welcome. Space is limited.

The cost is $120 for all 4 of the weekly classes in June ($30/class). Both e-transfer and cash are accepted. They are booked by the month as these classes are progressive learning. I also believe that consistency is key in seeing the progress in your practice, and that setting time aside for yourself each week makes a difference. That said, if you’re interested, but know you will be away some of these dates, please let me know and I can work with you on that. Additionally, if the cost is a barrier, please reach out to me. I will see what I can do to support your movement practice. I want people to be able to explore movement that feels good, and I try to be as accessible as I can.

Anyone undergoing their teacher training through Lauren Brandt Pilates, and would like a drop in option, please reach out to me. I am happy to offer a discount to teachers in training who are working through their hours.

All classes will be held at LU Pilates in Market Square (202-560 Johnson Street) at 6pm Thursdays.

Two years ago today, I was lying down on my living room floor, just breathing - doing nothing and thinking about nothing. I was letting the reality that I passed my mat test out exam two days earlier hit me, and letting the waves of relaxation roll over me. I had taken the week prior to the test out off work to work on my practical exam (sequence the exercises and practice teach it to see if I needed to change anything) and to keep studying for the written exam. Two days later, I let my mind and body relax and enjoy it. I think I laid there for a good 10 minutes, and it was bliss.

After so much trouble this year with my Pilates practice because of my shoulder issue, I’m starting to turn a corner where more exercises are accessible to me again, however I do still need to modify as needed, and you will see that in the reel of the Balanced Body Curriculum class from @raeleasaxton that I took live today (Progressions to corkscrew on the Pilates arc barrel). Exploring Pilates Essentials and mat exercises with the arc barrel was great, and I really enjoyed some of the creative ways of integrating the arc into the exercises. This is a perfect example of when you know the system, you know how you can play with it. I was super pleased that I was able to do swan and grasshopper on the barrel as swan on the mat has very much been a challenge for the whole year so far with my shoulder issue. I really do enjoy the curriculum classes. They are very helpful to me as a newer teacher who is working on comprehensive certification. With the classes you get the class recording for 30 days to watch/observe and do, and you get the class plan that you can try to teach, all of which goes towards your practical hours requirements for certification. It’s such a win, and there’s a mix of teachers offering different curriculum classes. Go to Rae Lea’s page for the link to the spreadsheet of class offerings. #pilatesselfpractice #bbcurriculum #pilatesarc 06/22/2026

Made it into the studio today for some self practice with a class online. As a teacher, it’s super important to maintain my own personal practice, and classes like these help reinforce my curricular knowledge and integrate the exercises into my body, even when I have to modify to accommodate my current shoulder mobility limitations.

Regaining my personal practice has been so rewarding and important.

Meet the studio, LÜ Pilates in Market Square, where you can find me teaching classes weekly. You’ll find 5 reformers with towers, 4 chairs, a mix of spine correctors, a full Cadillac (not shown, but she’s a beauty), and a ladder barrel (partially shown). You will find a wide variety of props and accessories like sitting boxes, jump boards, wedges, rollers, balls, bands, light hand weights, etc. There’s a lovely sitting area at the far end of the studio in the gorgeous bay windows with a little water cooler and beverage station nearby. Warm lighting, tall ceilings, and equipment that feels good to find yourself moving with. Come move with me! I’m open for privates in addition to the class offerings.
