Finding Peace in Your Money Story feels so good. Honestly it is so freeing to be calm and clear when it comes to financial discussions.

To not imagine how I could have handled something better. To not have my own discomfort run my decisions based on fear or insecurity. That was my past but it won’t be the future. And it won’t be my girls future either because they will see how we navigate finances moving forward.

Yesterday was a $40 difference. Some may say what was the point, it’s only $40. But the point is, asking for what was agreed upon creates new habits. One where I’m not trying to people please or holding onto anger after the fact. It’s me very calmly saying ‘that’s not what we agreed’ and waiting for the correction and feeling good about the outcome.

Yes a financial journey has many layers, but I believe the foundation is in how your nervous system guides it. When we peel back the reactions and learn what is driving them everything changes.

Money Mindset: Emergency Fund Edition

Do you have an Emergency Fund?

It’s an important financial safeguard to have that allows you to cover 3-6 months of your monthly expenses when life throws you a curve ball.

Ours is $25,000.
Which means we don’t immediately panic when things come up… because staying regulated in your financial decisions is key!

In the last 6 weeks we’ve had to tap into it for the following expenses

$1648.37 for brakes
$783.51 for car A/C
$283.29 (estimate for my muffler on Monday)
$1887.54 for a water heater with install costs to come.

Before our emergency fund I would be freaking out. Instead I’m calmly assessing where we can make changes to start building the fund back up and maintain our current monthly investments.

All of this comes from having financial goals and the plan to get there. Need help? Get my free Money Story guide in my bio where I teach you about your money mindset and how to shift it.

Our journey may feel like it’s solo, but it’s always experienced by those around us.

I feel amazing and my girls see me living life unrestricted now but that doesn’t mean they don’t still have their own emotions that surface when they get reminders of what I went through.

So many people have their own struggles and when we’re in it, it can be isolating because you don’t want to worry or burden those around you. At the same time the support is the light at the end of the tunnel. The nudge that keeps you on your path to heal.

Knowing my youngest is having some concerns highlights how important it is to be open about how well I’m doing and not just assume they know ❤️

Today is just a stream of consciousness, an insight into how healing is never linear or without complexities we don’t realize until they’re asking us at bedtime.

Did you know it was the penny?

Obviously 100% interest isn’t realistic.

But my goal is to spark curiosity in the power of compounding!

Is your money working for you?

It’s time to check on your investments and get them the returns that grown your wealth 💰

Someone is earning passive income from your investments! Make sure it’s you and not the bank.

This example is performing at 11.7% which is great. This investor is a little more conservative but looking for growth and this hits the mark.

The key is:
✅ Making sure you’re getting a return where you’re comfortable with the potential risk

✅ You’re LEAVING the investments in. People get nervous when there is a dip which is actually when you should invest more and not withdraw.

✅ Create a monthly automatic withdrawal so you can maximize growth.

If you’re curious what you can do with your current investments or want to get started DM me! Your future self will thank you ❤️

Today brought a lot of random thoughts. But being sold all the BS was top of the list. Time to take back some time, create boundaries and delegate ❤️

Sometime the obvious choice is right in front of us.

They are lots of passive income ideas but the one that requires very little effort is to invest in yourself through an account like a TFSA.

When you pay yourself first - that is directly from your paycheque, the habit creates a beautiful investment that grows with contributions and interest and compounds to a solid foundation for retirement.

If you’ve been thinking about it and just haven’t gotten around to it let’s chat.

Already have investments? I can also get comparisons to see how your funds are performing. I’ve seen lots of clients who did the right thing but it wasn’t invested in funds and just stayed as a glorified savings account earning less than 2%.

Small steps result in big shifts 💰

Where are my Gen X Mamas at?

Are we ready for this? 🤔🤦🏻‍♀️

As I approach 2 years since my first procedure a lot has been coming up. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis - I know it’s a mouthful that literally takes your breath away.

Am I fully healed and recovered? I want to say yes but having 4 additional procedures after the first keeps you humble.

I think now my biggest area of focus is going to be focusing on how my nervous system is still hypervigiliant in times where my breathing is stressed.

If you’ve also been healing from a diagnosis it may be another layer to look into ❤️
