The Truro Bearcats are pleased to announce that former captain Ben Higgins has joined the staff as a Skills Coach for the upcoming season.

The 27 year old from Truro recently wrapped his his playing career and will pivot into a skills and development role with the team he started and finished his junior career with.

Ben spent his 16 year old season with the Bearcats putting up 28 points in 47 games before spending 3 years with the Halifax Mooseheads, suiting up in over 200 QMJHL games. Ben returned to Truro in the 2019/20 season as team captain, leading the Bearcats in goals (39), assists (42) and points (81).

Following his junior career, Ben suited up for 3 seasons with the Saint Mary’s Huskies along with stops in the SPHL and the Senior Bearcats.

The Truro Bearcats are pleased to announce that we have added Shayla Gloade to our staff this year as our Head Athletic Trainer.

Shayla has worked on multiple occasions with the Bearcats but will now take over as Head Athletic Trainer this season.

She brings a Kinesiology degree from Dalhousie University and has experience at multiple levels as an athletic trainer from high school to university to QMJHL camps, also recently working with Team Nova Scotia at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship in Regina.

We would also like to thank Claira Kodak for her years of service and dedication to the Bearcats and wish her all the best.
