Stronger Together Hockey is kicking off 50 days of recognition with something special:

Who makes your team, school or community stronger?

Over the next 50 days, Stronger Together Hockey will recognize students, educators, coaches, volunteers, parents and community champions whose actions help others feel connected, supported and included.

A Partnership for Newcomer Youth, Belonging and Community

Stronger Together Hockey and COSTI working together to build pathways beyond the classroom.

Stronger Together Hockey is proud to announce a partnership with COSTI Immigrant Services focused on building stronger pathways for newcomer and underserved youth.

For decades, COSTI has supported newcomers, refugees, and immigrant families as they build new lives in Canada helping connect people to settlement services, community supports, family resources, youth programming, wellness connections, and pathways to opportunity.

Stronger Together Hockey begins in schools, using conversations, connection, and community inspired by hockey in its many forms to help students feel seen, included, active, and able to contribute.

Together, COSTI and Stronger Together Hockey are working to connect early school engagement with trusted next steps beyond the classroom, including newcomer youth supports, family and settlement pathways, mentorship, wellness resources, and broader community participation.

This partnership reflects a shared belief: young people need more than one moment of encouragement. They need trusted pathways, welcoming communities, and people who help them see what is possible.

Stronger Students. Stronger Schools. Stronger Communities.

We are grateful to COSTI for its leadership, experience, and commitment to newcomer families and communities, and we look forward to building this work together.

At the Youth Assisting Youth (YAY) 50th Anniversary Picnic, Stronger Together Hockey held a special draw for youth attending the celebration to win their very own tabletop hockey game.

We were thrilled to select Akbar as our winner, and this week, STH Co-Founder Anthony Bellissimo had the pleasure of personally delivering the game to her. 🎉

It was a small moment that reflects a much bigger part of what Stronger Together Hockey is about. As we often remind students:

“You don’t have to wear a jersey to be part of the team.”

Whether through playing, learning, creating, supporting others, or simply finding a place to belong, there is room for everyone in the hockey community.

Thank you to YAY for welcoming Stronger Together Hockey as part of its 50th anniversary celebration, and congratulations again to Akbar. We hope there are plenty of great tabletop hockey matchups ahead!

A huge thank you to MLSE LaunchPad and in particular Michael Kim, for their continued support of Stronger Together Hockey and for helping us create memorable experiences for students.

A special highlight was welcoming Olympian Sydney Payne, who generously shared her story and her two Olympic gold medals with the students. They were an absolute hit!

The smiles, questions and excitement said it all. And one thing everyone learned very quickly: who knew gold medals weighed that much? 🥇🥇

Thank you, Sydney and MLSE LaunchPad, for inspiring the next generation and showing our students where hard work, perseverance and believing in yourself can lead.
