To our players,

Skeena Cricket Club will be fully ready for the upcoming season to celebrate the game of cricket in the Skeena region.

Cricket in British Columbia is governed by Cricket BC, the recognized Provincial Sport Organization. In recent years, provincial cricket governance has experienced significant disruption, including judicial oversight and a court-ordered re-run of board elections following procedural irregularities reported in 2024. These matters are part of the public record and have contributed to delays and uncertainty across the system.

Skeena Cricket Club is a duly registered non-profit society in British Columbia, established for the purpose of playing, fostering, and celebrating cricket in our region. Our existence and activities are lawful, transparent, and fully aligned with the principles that underpin amateur sport in this province.
Cricket exists to be fostered, not controlled for advantage.

No single organization owns the sport, the players, or the spirit of the game.

All organizations operating within a publicly funded sport system are expected to uphold governance, inclusion, and Safe Sport standards. Statements made in an official capacity, and conduct that affects participation or access, are matters of record and are assessed accordingly.

Skeena Cricket Club has chosen a clear and principled path,

we will not apply for, rely on, or utilize taxpayer-funded grants or public subsidies. Our operations are supported entirely by our members and community. This independence ensures our focus remains on players, participation, and respect—especially during periods when sport governance structures are undergoing legal or regulatory review.
We are engaging through appropriate and lawful channels to ensure clarity and fairness within the sport system. These processes take time, but they are progressing as intended. Skeena Cricket Club will operate on an equal footing with other sport organizations, and every player will be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.

In the meantime:

* Community facilities remain open to participation.
* Our focus remains on the game, not on politics.

Stay united. Support one another. Remember why we came together—to play cricket, to build community, and to celebrate the game we love.
Cricket will continue to be played and celebrated in the Skeena region.
