One of the places you have to visit when in Barcelona is to pay a visit to Montserrat. What a beautiful place…

Random video at the port of Barcelona near the Aquarium and Maremagnum. This is the day of the feast of Sant Jordi. We were walking from Casa Batllo, to La Rambla and the Barcelona Cathedral. It was a good day for a walk and we found some good authentic Paella in the city. We dined at Siete Portes Catalan Cuisine and the Paelleria Gaudi. Our appetite were satiated with good food and wine.

Watched a Flamenco show in BCN. I tried googling the story of this show and here’s what I found.
“Flamenco is a passionate, expressive art form that originated in Southern Spain (Andalusia) as a cultural melting pot, combining the traditions of Roma (Gypsy), Moorish (Arab), Jewish, and Andalusian communities. Developing over centuries from the 15th to the 18th, it emerged from marginalized groups, reflecting their struggle, sorrow, and joy.”
Its marginalized Origins: Flamenco was born from persecution. Roma people, Jews, and Moors fleeing the Spanish Inquisition or facing social exclusion in the 15th-18th centuries combined their musical traditions.

The Cultural Fusion: It blends Arab, Jewish, Andalusian, and Gypsy influences. The melodies reflect Sephardic, Byzantine, and ancient Hindu musical systems. Expression of Struggle: The music is deeply emotional, designed to express intense feelings like grief, pride, and despair.

The "Olé!": This iconic exclamation of encouragement has debated origins, with some believing it stems from the Hebrew word "oleh" (to throw up) or an exclamation of the name "Leah," according to.

Guitarra (The Guitar): The flamenco guitar, typically made of Spanish cypress, was designed smaller and lighter than classical guitars to produce a sharper sound to complement the singers.

It was fun to watch this in an almost private crowd of 20 people and the vibe is so emotional.
