Here's a small glimpse into how we handle breeding.

Our stallions are handled with care, positive reinforcement, and clear boundaries. They are handled like any other horse. I think it's notable that we generally do not need to keep a whip in hand and we do not use stud chains.

Kador is headed to the breeding pen to have some time with Belle-Dragon. This is their second date in 2 days. So Kador has it fresh in his mind what's up! You can see a little training opportunity here when Kador eagerly trots towards Belle-Dragon, and that results in us moving away from the mare instead of closer. My focus, as always, is managing the situation as needed and reinforcing the behaviour I want more of.

This is Kador's first breeding season as a three year old. Although he has bred one mare at a year, and one at 2 years. So he has a small amount of experience.

To say we are pleased with Kador so far is definitely an understatement.

Day Two of our Pair Bond Training clinic at Silver Willow Farm in Ontario is about to begin.
