Just finished my first natural rubber tuilik (material is Lexcell by Yulex). This is a plant-based alternative to petroleum-based neoprene and the feel of it is amazing. It's softer, spongier and a little thicker than the standard 3mm neoprene that I use for the neoprene tuiliks. I expect it would be more buoyant but I haven't rolled with it. It is more expensive for me to source the material and the cost of the Lexcell tuiliks at Vitamin Sea Paddle Shop reflects that, but it does have a nicer feel and it's eco-friendly to boot.

Rubber cuffs*, as shown here, are optional. The alternative is velcro wrap (as is used on Brooks Tuiliks), or I have also done both rubber cuff and velcro wrap higher on the wrist. The rubber cuff version can be hard to put on, so I'm happy to have feedback in this first year as to which one people feel is better.

*Rubber cuffs refers to neoprene that is unlined on the inside surface so it has high friction against the skin and forms a type of seal. I can put rubber cuffs on if I have exact wrist circumference measurements.

I estimate 6-8 weeks for finished tuilik orders at this point. If you want something for next season it would be helpful to order during the off season 😁 This is a small cottage industry and . I hope to get into more of a groove next season but please 🙏 be patient until then! ❤️🖤💙

I am currently awaiting supplies that are on back order so that i can finish the sprayskirt portion of my tuiliks in production. Those supplies should arrive now in the first week in August The teething pains of a first season!

In the mean time i have been really excited about the development of the collared tuilik. With any luck i will be able to finish this one as well in the next couple of weeks and i will let you all know if the neck collar keeps the water out as well as the hood.

Like the hooded tuilik, the collared tuilik will have glued and taped seams and an optional front pocket with waterproof zipper. There will also be a waterproof half zipper up the back. The collar has a rubber inner layer (the body neoprene is lined with nylon on the inside while the collar is not), allowing for extra waterproofing where the collar meets the skin.
