Aaron Darling PADI MASTER SCUBA DIVER TRAINER #537733

I’ve been diving since 1993 and absolutely love sharing my love for the underwater world with others!

Now ask yourself, if you answer yes to any of the questions that Dustin puts out, what steps can you take next?

What dives can you take on to work towards the goal?

What courses do you take to move you towards that goal?

What mentors, coaches or instructors get you there?

We all love diving, almost as much as we love talking about it. Find that mentor, coach or instructor that you have a connection with and take that next step!

TUESDAY TECH TIP:
KNOW YOUR LIMITS — DIVE WITHIN THEM

Technical diving isn’t about how deep you can go, how long you can stay, or how challenging a dive you can complete. It’s about knowing when the dive is appropriate for you and your team.

Your limits include more than certification depth. Consider your training, experience, equipment, gas planning, physical and mental condition, environmental conditions, team capability, and familiarity with the site.

A dive can be technically within your certification but still be outside your personal limits.

Before entering the water, ask yourself:

• Am I properly trained and practiced for this dive?
• Is my equipment appropriate, configured, and functioning correctly?
• Do I have the gas, bailout, and redundancy required?
• Am I comfortable with the planned depth, time, environment, and conditions?
• Is the team prepared to handle foreseeable problems?
• Am I mentally and physically ready today?

And remember: Your limits can change from dive to dive.

If conditions deteriorate, equipment doesn’t perform as expected, the team isn’t ready, or something simply doesn’t feel right—turn the dive or call it early.

There is no failure in saying “not today.” The real skill is having the discipline to recognize when the risk is no longer acceptable.

Know your limits. Respect your training. Plan conservatively. Dive within them.

Tech Done Properly.
