MiraYoga is dedicated to yoga instruction & therapeutics, Thai yoga massage, drama therapy, trauma psychotherapy & body-mind-healing
Mind, body, emotions, health and spiritual wellbeing are interconnected. In my practice as a drama therapist I engage with the creative, spontaneous and playful parts of ourselves to gain access to stuck, unattended to or 'un-playable' areas of our stories. The embodied, imaginative and interpersonal qualities in drama therapy bring awareness to our habitual repetitive patterns that may or may not
be necessary anymore. Drama therapy is helpful for children as well as adults in group or individual therapy sessions. As a psychotherapist and drama therapist I have been engaged with survivors of complex and distressing trauma, to help reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and adjustment issues relating to post traumatic stress. I use a combination of psycho-education about trauma, direct inquiry, exposure techniques and body based awareness practices. Yoga is the a physical reminder to still the mind and be in presence with the body through breath work and physical postures. I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years, and over the past 5 years have intensified my practice by immersing in alignment-based heart-centred Hatha yoga system through teacher trainings (Shri Yoga Montreal), and several therapeutic workshops for treating both physical misalignments and emotional trauma. Therapeutic Yoga Groups for symptoms of anxiety, stress and trauma, are the culmination of my work as a trauma-focused therapist and yoga instructor. These groups provide an opportunity for a safe and supportive group experience to explore personal healing journeys via discussion of the effects of trauma at the personal, spiritual, physical and emotional levels. The class infuses discussion, breathing, meditation and a gentle physical practice based on a healing intention. Thai Yoga Massage is the practice of offering kind loving touch (Metta). We heal the body through joint rotation, gentle stretching in yoga postures, and palpating the energy pathways (sen lines and marma points) to work the body at a physical and energetic level. The massage is done on a mat on the floor in loose comfortable clothing, and people describe feeling both energized and calm during and after the massage.
