He made it. 💗 One of the dogs from severe infrastructure and water .

Band members have been displaced to 5 locations since January. They have been evacuated to Niagara Falls, Kapukasing, Timmins, Kingston and Thunder Bay!!!

Such a heartbreaking situation for band members and their pets. I don't know if pets will eventually be reunited.

I know one of the founders of Baladi & Sled Dog Rescue of Ontario inquired about reunions. I don't believe there was a direct answer, other than the organizing rescue having permission. BSDRO simply opened their rescue to help.

I would be heartbroken to lose everything, including a beloved companion. 💔

DISGUSTING!!! 😡😡😡

I agree with this comment.

"It utterly sickens me to see some of the totally inept people that somehow decide they want to own dogs along with the insane things they then do with them."

“Yesterday’s Fourth of July parade in Lincoln, Montana, took place in temperatures around 70–74°F with 49–52% humidity. While those conditions may seem comfortable for people, they still raise serious questions when dogs exploited in the dog sledding industry are asked to pull on pavement during a summer parade.

The footage shared from the event is concerning. It appears to show dogs panting heavily, and at times some dogs appear to be dragged rather than moving willingly. In the comments on the original post, other mushers, dog trainers, and canine behaviour professionals also expressed concern, with several stating that the dogs appeared to be showing signs of distress.

These concerns deserve to be taken seriously—not dismissed.

The sheriff’s deputies and other public officials who attended the parade were in a unique position to recognize when an animal’s well being might be at risk. We hope that, in the future, better judgment is exercised before allowing demonstrations in summer parades. Public events should showcase animals responsibly and ethically and that is not normally possible because putting them on display is always prioritized over their well being and if there is reasonable concern that dogs are struggling, intervention should be considered rather than simply watching it unfold.

The well being of these dogs should always come before tradition or entertainment.”

Thank you Caregivers of Petrolia Ferals to the generous donations for the ferals. 💜 Joy Lewis was very happy to receive so much kibble. She is the caretaker of the feral cat shelter. I'm glad I was there today for the delivery. Thank you to volunteer, Julie Wilbur for bringing the donations. 💜

The difference that has been made in our community is so heartwarming ! Our friends at Stony Point First Nation have some food for furry souls in need.

The crow on your fence knows your face. She's known it for years. She told her family about you. They've never met you. They also know your face now. The grudge was inherited.

University of Washington researchers wore masks while trapping crows. Years later, crows who had never been trapped — young birds born after the study — would scold and dive-bomb anyone wearing that specific mask. The information was taught across generations.

She uses tools. She solves multi-step puzzles. She plans for the future — caching food she'll need later in locations she's scouted. She understands water displacement well enough to drop stones into a tube to raise the water level and reach a floating treat.

When one of her family dies, the others gather. Not to mourn — to study. They investigate how the death occurred, identify the threat, and adjust their behavior. They hold a safety briefing over a casualty.

She eats 40,000 grubs and pest insects per family per season. She eats carrion. She buries seeds that become oak trees. She's running a three-shift operation — pest removal, sanitation, reforestation — and she remembers the face of everyone who's ever thrown a rock at her.

The general public needs to know that none of us are paid employees. We are volunteers.

I've needed to specify hours because I would get messages and calls all hours.

When there are no clinics open, there is nothing that can be done until the next day. Or you will need to find an after hours clinic on your own. Which have been posted many times.

Even with certain emergency cost sharing, this is with paid employees. Who are not available after hours. If only by chance.

Be prepared and proactive. Know who provides after hours. You may need to drive 30 min to 2 hours away. Ask a friend or family member beforehand just so you have someone to rely upon.

A little request…

If you need to contact the rescue, please send a message via Messenger or to our email:

📧[email protected]

I am getting more and more calls to my personal phone and do not love it. I don’t love talking on the phone but I’m also often unable to answer. I am getting calls during work hours but also calls at inappropriate times of the night.

If you call and leave a voicemail, the chances of me returning the call are about 0.2%.

If you don’t have access to the Internet, you can send a text if necessary.

So, unless you’ve been invited to call my personal phone, please try not to.

Thank you!! ☺️
