๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ Athlete Spotlight: Emma Damsgaard ๐ŸŒŸ

As we wrap up the season, weโ€™re looking back at some of the outstanding performances from our swimmers. One of those highlights came at the Stettler Swim Meet in April, where Emma Damsgaard had an incredible weekend!

Emma captured 1st place in the exciting Eliminator Finals, a fast-paced knockout event that challenged swimmers to race multiple rounds to earn the top spot.

She also had an outstanding meet in her individual events:
๐Ÿฅ‡ 1st โ€“ 25 m Backstroke (23.27, personal best by 1.49 seconds)
๐Ÿฅ‡ 1st โ€“ 50 m Breaststroke (1:01.30, personal best by 12.32 seconds)
๐Ÿฅˆ 2nd โ€“ 50 m Freestyle

Throughout her first season with the Lloydminster Riptides, Emma has embraced every opportunity to learn, improve, and challenge herself. Her hard work has paid off with personal bests, growing confidence in the pool, and performances like this one in Stettler.

Congratulations on a fantastic first season, Emma! Weโ€™re proud of everything youโ€™ve accomplished and canโ€™t wait to see what next season brings. ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ

๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ This past weekend, our Riptides travelled to Red Deer for the Catalina Freeze or Fryโ€”and we definitely experienced both the fry and the freeze! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿฅถ

Friday greeted us with beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures, but by Sunday we were facing clouds, rain, wind, and conditions that felt closer to -2ยฐC. Despite the challenging weather, our swimmers were absolute troopers, sticking it out all weekend with smiles on their faces and determination in every race.

Their efforts resulted in:

๐Ÿฅ‡ 6 first-place finishes
๐Ÿฅˆ 4 second-place finishes
๐Ÿฅ‰ 4 third-place finishes
๐Ÿ”Ÿ 18 additional top-ten finishes

Beyond the results, our swimmers braved the elements, supported one another, had fun, and swam their hearts out, earning personal bests along the way. From tents and blankets to parkas and rain gear, our camp was prepared for whatever Mother Nature threw at us! โ›บ๐Ÿงฅ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Weโ€™re incredibly proud of the resilience, teamwork, and positive attitudes shown throughout the weekend. Great job, Riptides! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฌ๐ŸŽ‰

๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธโœจ Last weekend, one of our Riptides represented the team at the Alberta Festival meet in Grand Prairie, and what a performance it was!

She qualified for finals in all six of her events and finished the weekend with:

๐Ÿฅˆ 1 second-place finish
๐Ÿฅ‰ 1 third-place finish
๐Ÿ”Ÿ 4 additional top-10 finishes

She also swam personal bests throughout the weekend, broke the 30-second barrier in the 50 Freestyle for the very first time, and set two new club records in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle! โฑ๏ธ๐Ÿ†

Weโ€™re incredibly proud of her hard work, determination, and outstanding accomplishments. Congratulations on an amazing weekend of racing and on making Riptides history! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฌ๐ŸŽ‰
