🏒 RED TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT — TEAM ROBERTS /GENEREUX🏒

We’re proud to introduce Team Roberts,/ Genereux led by two individuals whose hockey roots run deep in Fort McMurray: Nick Roberts and Gates Genereux.

Nick Roberts played all of his minor hockey in Fort McMurray before suiting up for the Oil Barons for three years. The ultimate “teammate,” Nick patrolled the blue line for over 150 games, with the highlight being part of the 2000 Royal Bank Cup Championship team. He was an Assistant Captain for his final year of junior hockey.

After attending Grant MacEwan (ACAC), Nick returned home and was an Assistant Coach for the Oil Barons over a four-year span. He was on the staff of the 2006 AJHL Championship team.

Gates Genereux
Gates Genereux was a goalie who had a four-year junior career, playing in both the AJHL and WHL. He played two seasons with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons during the 1984-85 and 1986-87 seasons.

After attending NAIT, Gates returned to Fort McMurray and was instrumental in helping the Oil Barons with goalie development throughout the 1990s. He was an Assistant Coach for seven years and was part of the coaching staff of the 2000 Royal Bank Cup Championship team.
