I can't wait to see this in action!
A call to action for volunteers, team members, fundraisers, funders, parents etc to help, be a part of and bring a BMX race club and track to Fernie.
Riders ready? Watch the gate! BMX racing is an amazingly family friendly sport. From 3 year olds on strider bikes to the pros at the Olympics, with moms and dads (on larger wheels) in between. There really is no other way to get the whole family into competitive cycling. BMX racing began back in the 70’s when kids in California started emulating their motocross heros. It was huge in the 80’s and f

So awesome to see a BMX camp only 1 hr away from Fernie.
Hopefully someday, the bike town of Fernie will be able to host something like this too.

They have such an impressive racing scene in Alberta!
I really wish we could host some of them here in Fernie and there is no doubt that the kids and bigger kids of our community would love that competition too.

Everywhere around the world there are awesome pumptracks getting built, while some people in Fernie actually believe we already have one.
If Fernie can't have a BMX track, a sweet pumptrack would suffice.

This Pump Track Park is part of the scenic “Shangzhushan Valley Magic”, which offers a variety of outdoor activities, including a climbing tower, a giant labyrinth, Giant Pandas and various picturesque gardens. 🐼 🌳🚲⠀

When I first proposed BMX Racing in Fernie 5 years ago, I figured that the year 2020 was going to be a great year for BMX, in Fernie.
I figured that this perfect piece of land would work out for us, and that by 2020, we would have had a strongly established club.
But here we go into 2020, and this perfect piece of land still sits unused, and there is no club.
It could easily accommodate a beautiful BMX race track as well as bike park with pumptrack, dirt jumps, slopestyle course and a skatepark. A big upgrade from what we presently have.
I still have my fingers crossed, and continue to dream that our City officials will let it happen some day!
Here is to HOPE, in 2020. The year of BMX!
Happy New Year everyone!!!!
