Passada is the art of walking together in a smooth, connected, and grounded way as a single unit. It focuses on a tight, closed embrace where partners breathe together, feel the rhythm, and move with shared intention.
The “Passata” is the Elegant, Grounded walking part of the dance of Kizomba and draws roots from traditional African adaptations mixed with influences like the European waltz and bolero brought through PALOP countries (Angola, Cape Verde), to the dance scene: and during the 1980s and 1990s, emigrants in Lisbon blended these walking basics, leading to the smooth, flowing style known today as Kizomba.
