Helping high-achieving women go from overwhelmed and unfulfilled to calm and confident mothers through traditional living.

We’ve removed a lot of things from everyday life that are known to support mental health: physical activity, time outdoors, sunlight, hands-on work, growing and preparing food, community, purpose, and the satisfaction of accomplishing something tangible. We replaced much of it with sitting, screens, convenience, and more isolation. That doesn’t explain all depression, but it’s hard to ignore that many things now recommended to improve depressive symptoms are things people used to do naturally every day.

Over here with strong opinions and no patience for anything other than 2 genders and homemade cooking! If you don’t like it, that’s fine. Im not here chasing followers, I’m here to find likeminded people. My people. I don’t want everyone to agree with me, I want to speak to those who aren’t afraid up standing up against the bu****it.

Privilege affects your options. It doesn’t automatically explain your choices or erase your effort.

Maybe the real reason so many of us believe we “can’t afford” to stay home with our kids isn’t just because life got too expensive, maybe it’s because we were sold the idea that making things ourselves is a waste of time. It’s “easier” to buy the bread, the meals, the snacks, the cleaners and every other convenience… then work more hours to afford all the things we’re buying because we’re too busy working to make them ourselves. See the cycle? We’ve been taught to put a dollar value on the hours we spend earning money, but almost no value on the hours we spend saving it. Cooking from scratch, gardening, preserving, repairing and reusing weren’t just cute little hobbies our grandmothers did, they were part of the economics of running a household. Maybe homemaking was never economically worthless. Maybe we were just convinced it was.

We didn’t lose these skills because they became useless. We lost them because we were told we didn’t need them anymore.

Cooking from scratch. Preserving food. Growing a garden. Baking bread. Fermenting vegetables. Making butter. Mending things instead of replacing them.

Things our grandmothers considered basic life skills are now treated like hobbies or some kind of radical lifestyle choice.

There is power in knowing how to feed your family without depending on someone else to do absolutely everything for you.

Today’s project: homemade sauerkraut. 🥬

What’s one “old-fashioned” skill you think everyone should know?

Work smarter not harder!

1. It tastes better.
2. You know exactly what’s in it.
3. It gives you a better appreciation for where your food comes from.
4. It’s a surprisingly fun skill that takes just a few minutes.
5. Apparently it keeps the “blue hair brigade” busy in my comment section for months. 🤷‍♀️🧈

In all seriousness, nobody has to make their own butter. But knowing how to do simple things for yourself is never a bad skill to have. It doesn’t mean you have to choose between making butter or a career.
