Postpartum fitness advice you should NOT be listening to...
There's so much noise on social media now, and a lot of it sounds helpful on the surface, but can actually set you back. Here's what I want you to stop taking as gospel:
"Bounce back by 6 weeks": Your 6 week checkup is exactly that: a checkup, NOT a clearance to move full steam ahead. Postpartum healing doesn't magically end at that 6-week mark. In fact, it begins before and it should continue on for much longer after. Rushing this because of a made-up timeline does more harm than good, and it puts pressure on a body that's still very much in the middle of recovering.
"Just do more cardio to lose the baby weight": Cardio will not and does not rebuild your pelvic floor and deep core connection and function, or your body's strength. Resistance training with progressive overload does more for your body composition AND your recovery.
"Crunches will flatten your stomach": For the love of God, do not do crunches postpartum, please đ© If your core and pelvic floor haven't been reconnected, rebuilt, and restrengthened first, crunches can actually make things (ahem, diastasis recti) worse, NOT better. Flat isn't the goal anyway, function is.
"Just do kegels for your pelvic floor": Kegels are one SMALL piece of a much bigger picture, and for some women they're not even the right piece at all! Our pelvic floors need to relax and lengthen, not just squeeze over and over again.
"You should feel back to normal by X weeks": There is no universal timeline. And not even YOUR two, three, etc postpartum journeys will have the same timeline! Comparing your recovery to someone else's just adds pressure that doesn't serve you.
"If you're not sore, it didn't work": Soreness isn't the measure of a good workout, especially postpartum. Consistency and proper progression matter far more than how wrecked you feel after. That goes for a good sweat, too...
Your postpartum body deserves more nuance than a generic tip floating around the internet that may have worked for someone else (or is good clickbait đ).
Save this one, or send it to a mama who needs to hear it đ
I just checked in with one of my 1:1 clients, and her response genuinely made my whole day đ„č

If even one of those made your stomach drop a little, made you think "wait, that's literally me," I need you to keep reading...!
Every single one of these quotes is from a REAL client of mine.
It's not always a massive transformation or a dramatic before and after.
Sometimes it's just real momsâbuilding habits and making changes by doing small things on hard daysâ who once said the exact same thing you're probably telling yourself right now đ«¶đŒ
But you know what?! Every one of them started anywayâŠnot once they had more time, not once the kids were older, or once things finally calmed down.
They started in the middle of the mess and the chaosâŠbecause the mess and the chaos is never actually going away first (letâs be honest here! đ
)
Back to school does something weird to us moms...everyone else gets a fresh start, new school supplies, a clean slate, and we're standing there in the same exhausted, stretched-too-thin place we've been in all summerâŠquietly wondering when it's our turn.
Well, Iâm here to tell you, your turn is NOW.
You don't need to wait for things to calm down, you don't need to figure it out alone first, or prove to yourself you can do it before you ask for helpâŠ
You can just start now, messy, tired, unsure...all of it.
And this time, for one week only, I'm opening up something I don't usually offer: 10% off Fittest Core 1:1 coaching for new clients, so you can start alongside real guidance, real support, real accountability, and someone actually in your corner.
DM me "SCHOOL" and let's get you going, mama đ
