The first of our Throws Fest series sponsored by Books Between Friends is happening August 29th at Glenmore Athletic Park!

We have some incredible athletes joining us and a great crew of officials to run these events off. It is sure to be a fun time! We’ll be running throws from 8:45am starting with the Throws Pentathlon until our last event starts at 4:30pm with discus.

We have Masters, Open, and Para athletes joining us from all over Canada as well as representing Nigeria for this first Throws Fest! The competition will be fantastic and weather looks to be cooperating. Let’s go throw!

CALTAF’s very own Samantha Read had a busy summer with her Team Canada national team assignment on the Commonwealth Games team In Glasgow. This is a follow up to her World Championship Team Canada coaching assignment last year. She was busy coaching Team Canada to the most successful Commonwealth Games ever, but still found some time to run by Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens and take some well deserved vacation afterwards. Congratulations Coach Sam!

Caltaf’s own Kim Cousins, fresh from coaching and speaking at the Commonwealth Games, has been invited to present at the U20 World Championships Coaches Symposium in Eugene, Oregon.
On August 9, Kim will deliver her session “Are You Prepared to Win? Planning & Periodisation for Winning Performance” at the Hayward Field VIP Suite as part of “The Bridge to Sustainable Excellence”, a symposium dedicated to guiding athletes from world‑class junior to elite senior success and reducing dropout in the U20‑to‑Senior transition.
Kim will also join the expert panel to discuss the modern athlete pathway and creating sustainable careers in sport. We’re so proud of you, Coach Kim!
