🧗 Big things are happening in Calgary’s para-climbing community!

For the first time, the Canadian Para Climbing Summit is coming to Calgary, bringing together athletes, coaches, setters, classifiers, and community members for three days of learning, competition, and climbing.

Presented by Climbing Escalade Canada’s Para Committee, the summit is designed to help grow access to para-climbing expertise in Western Canada and build momentum for the sport as para-climbing prepares to make its Paralympic debut at LA 2028.

📅 September 17–19, 2026
📍 Rocky Mountain Climbing Centre, Calgary

The summit includes:
🧗 Coach, classifier, and setter workshops
🌄 Community outdoor adaptive climb
📋 Para-climber classification opportunities
🏆 Para-climbing competition
🙌 “Climb Like a Para-Climber” community session
🪢 Adaptive climbing content, including rope systems to support climbers beyond current competition classifications

Much of the summit will focus on current competitive para-climbing classifications, including AU3, AL2, B3, RP2, and RP3, while also creating opportunities to learn more about broader adaptive climbing.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in para-climbing, whether you’re an athlete, coach, recreation professional, climbing organization, or someone curious about where the sport is headed.

Let’s help give this FIRST-EVER summit a huge Calgary welcome!
