If youโre working out at home and have limited equipment, try incorporating one of these three techniques:
1๏ธโฃ Add a pause โ The longer the pause, the more challenging the exercise becomes.
2๏ธโฃ Slow down the tempo โ Controlling the movement, especially on the lowering phase, increases the difficulty and challenges your muscles even more.
3๏ธโฃ Add a 1ยผ rep โ By adding an extra quarter rep, you increase your time under tension, making the movement much more demanding.
Sometimes, itโs not about lifting heavier- itโs about training smarter๐ช๐ป.

And Iโve seen firsthand what this toxic messaging can make women believe about themselves- and how deeply it can stick.โฃ

It makes you believe that your worth is tied to a number. โฃ
That food has to be earned.โฃ
That exercise is punishment.โฃ
That the scale determines whether theyโve had a โgoodโ or โbadโ week.โฃ

And after years of growth and healing, I couldnโt disagree more. โฃ

My goal has never been to help women become smaller at all costs.โฃ
โฃ
Itโs to help them become stronger.โฃ
More confident.โฃ
More resilient.โฃ
And to build habits that actually improve their quality of life- not consume it.โฃ

I wore my discipline like a badge of honor. I thought being the person who never missed a workout, never ate the cake and never deviated from the plan was something to be proud of.โฃ

โHello, my name is Nikki Melligan. I am a Certified Personal Trainer (2002), Inside Flow Yoga Teacher (2024) & a Level 2 Restorative Yoga Teacher (2025). My passion as a Personal Trainer is working with clients to help nurture their belief in themselves and that they can do anything that they put their minds to no matter how big or small๐๐ป. โฃ

After being an athlete for two decades and an avid Crossfitter for five years, my belief was that rest was unproductive and that I was being lazy by not doing anything. My days would be filled with more things than I had hours in the day for and I wouldnโt stop until 5 minutes before bedtime. I would then struggle to fall asleep at night as my body didnโt know what rest was or how to down regulate my nervous system. I would then wake up in the morning exhausted and start all over again. โฃ
โฃ
In 2020 I found Yoga/Meditation and everything in my life changed for me. I finally was able to have a wonderful nights sleep and my body finally experienced deep rest in a way that I never knew was possible๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธ. โฃ

With the knowledge and experience I embody from the fitness world and the Restorative Yoga world, I am now able to look at these two modalities with a more balanced approach. The common theme with both of these modalities is they create mental resiliency to face the daily challenges of the human experience.โฃ

My eating disorder kept me stuck- stuck in a cycle that felt impossible to escape.โฃ
