Sometimes all it takes is a shadow to remind you that you are meant for more.
Don't let someone else's thinking define the size of your dreams.
They will always tell you what they think, even when you don't ask.
👉"You work too much, I would never do that."
👉"Why not just get a real job, that's what I would do."
👉"Do you like what you do, it looks like you are always working."
Smile and nod, and thank them for their perspective. If they aren't really interested in listening to what you have been up too and aren't happy for you, you really don't have to try and explain it. They are only interested in what they think. So, smile and nod and move along.
Remember, you don't have to explain yourself to anyone. You do what you do because you choose a different path. You choose to create your own path.
I had a side hustle alongside a career for 12 years. I always knew something would shift, I just didn't know what and when.
That was 7 years ago that I became a full-time entrepreneur, focused on building multiple revenue streams for the lifestyle I knew was possible. I am filled with gratitude every day.
I see you.
I get you.
I applaud you.

Entrepreneurs don't work outside the norm because they have to prove something.
They work when inspiration, opportunity, and commitment call for it.
New quarter.
Renewed clarity.
👉Don't loose track of your why.

Sometimes growth means stepping away from good people and familiar places because the fit has changed.
It's ok to appreciate what was, keep the relationships that matter, and still choose what serves your goals.
Goals for now, and goals for your future self.
Make room for the work and the life you are building. Entrepreneurship is a lifestyle choice.
How was Q2?
Jan
Yup, it's true.
Life of an entrepreneur.

There's something about getting together with people who just get the entrepreneurs' lifestyle.
The conversations, different perspectives, and shared experiences always spark new ideas and fresh ways of thinking.
Cheers to everyone who joined in for a spontaneous lunch, and thank you to for a delicious lunch and easy ambience.
These conversations are always time well spent for the heart and soul of why we do, what we do.

One of my coaching conversations recently really stuck with me.
We talked about how easy it is to stay where we are because we don't want to disappoint the people around us.
We stay in the role they've always known.
We keep things comfortable.
We convince ourselves it's easier not to rock the boat.
But here's the question...
At what point do you decide it's time to become more of who you are meant to be?
Most people aren't thinking about your decisions nearly as much as you think they are.
And if someone doesn't agree with the direction you're taking...that's okay too.
You don't need everyone else's permission to become the person you're meant to be.

One of my coaching clients said something last week that is still sitting with me.
"Jan, every time we meet, I leave with ideas I can actually implement. You don't tell me what I want to hear. You listen to where I'm trying to go, then help me create a path to get there."
📍That's exactly what coaching should be.
Too often, people pay for big ticket coaching only to receive the same advice everyone else gets. The answers are polished, on-brand, and predictable.
👉Real coaching isn't about having all the answers. It's about asking better questions, listening without bias, challenging assumptions, and helping someone uncover opportunities they couldn't see on their own.
One of the best investments you can make is finding a coach outside your industry. Someone who isn't influenced by "how it's always been done." That's where innovation lives. That's where new ideas are born. That's where true entrepreneurship develops.
If you're only learning from people who think exactly like you do, you're probably reinforcing your current results.
Growth happens when someone helps you see your business—and yourself—from a different perspective.

Last night reminded me, yet again, how life of an entrepreneur has to continue to evolve.
When I added global travel to my business, I had no idea how much it would pivot my direction but something about it felt right.
Today, I love that Tasty Road Trips now blends Canadian destination experiences with global travel.
If you're asking yourself, "Should I?" or "Can I?" — yes, of course you can.
Don't wait for permission. Decide where you want to be, take the first step, and let opportunities unfold because of your efforts to see it grow. Your next evolution or revenue stream might be closer than you think.
I could have stayed home last night, would have been easy to talk myself into staying in. But I didn't. And it was an awesome learning evening about something so new and creative in travel, I can't wait to share it.
It doesn't always have to be fully prescribed for you to jump in.
I have to wonder if you are holding yourself back. Your future self says, just do it!
