This week I'm speaking to a group of youth entrepreneurs about one of my favourite topics.

Everyone is talking about Generative AI.

I'm more interested in whether you're actually being found.

We used to rely on hashtags to help people discover a business.

Today, we're optimizing for search engines and AI engines. If AI doesn't understand your business, it can't confidently recommend your business.

My framework is simple:

Generative AI creates.
Optimization gets you found. Consistency builds authority.

Together, they increase your digital footprint. Use AI without strategy and you'll create more noise, more posts and waste more time.

Use AI with intention, optimization, and consistency, and you'll become impossible to overlook.

Influence, not arrogance.

Being an entrepreneur is hard.
Some days the weight feels heavy, the decisions endless, and the pressure quiet but constant.

Then you catch your shadow… and realize how much stronger, more confident you have become.

Tired? Maybe.
Busy? Absolutely.
But it’s the best kind of busy.
Because you built it.

Not someone else telling you when, how, or why.

And that takes courage many people will never fully understand. Remember you don't have to explain it. Just own it. And smile. Because it's yours.

What stood out most this past term, while teaching, wasn’t just the curriculum — it was the in the rooms I shared.

As the term wraps up, I reflect on this
final cohort — large classrooms of mostly international students — and it was exceptional.

They showed up. Every class. Always ready. Always professional.

Engaged, curious, and asking how.

How does this work in the real world?
How do I build something of my own?
How do I lead through administration?

It was such a pleasure to work with this group of post-secondary students — I genuinely enjoyed their perspectives, the way they think and their interest in what's possible.

As well, last week I was speaking with high school students in Brantford, through the BRC programming, who are already thinking differently — exploring entrepreneurship and income beyond the traditional pathways for what is expected next.

And here’s what I see clearly…

✔️They are not just looking for jobs.
✔️They are looking for options.
✔️They want honest answers from the experience of those who are doing what they want to consider as an option for themselves.

I left the 9–5 to build a 'lifestyle' that blends teaching, business, and real-world experience — and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I just wish I had known it sooner.

Ever been asked if your work as an entrepreneur is just a hobby?

Recently, someone I had literally just met for the first time, asked me, "do you actually make money at what you do?"

Balls-ey, agreed. Yet interesting question.

👉Would YOU ask someone with a job, 'do you actually make money during your hours working for that business you go into every day.'

It made me rethink how we label 'work' ... and value 'set-hours' over 'DIY hours.'

So I'll ask the question to fellow entrepreneurs and business owners.

Why call a revenue-generating venture a 'side hustle' when it's truly a business and it's where you 'work' and 'earn.'

Perhaps we need to shift our mindset and give entrepreneurial pursuits the value they deserve. It’s not JUST a side gig, you dabble in—it's your commitment to your industry, opportunity to support others, and absolutely your $$ freedom lifestyle livelihood.

Keep working hard, loving the DIY hours and never needing to quantify why you choose the 'work' that you do.
