Orange Botswana Foundation Launches 91st Digital School at Mahube Primary School

Today the Orange Botswana Foundation launched its 91st Digital School at Mahube Primary School in Francistown,marking another significant milestone in its commitment to advancing digital inclusion and transforming education in Botswana.

The launch brought together education stakeholders, community representatives, school leadership, teachers and learners to celebrate the expansion of access to digital learning tools and resources.

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs Hon Ignatius Moswaane delivered the keynote address,highlighting the importance of partnerships and digital innovation in strengthening education and creating opportunities for learners to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Through the Digital Schools Programme, the Orange Botswana Foundation continues to work in partnership with the Ministry of Child welfare and Basic Education and the Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs to bridge the digital divide and provide learners, particularly those in underserved communities, with access to technology-enabled education.

The launch of the 91st Digital School reinforces Orange Botswana’s commitment to using technology to create meaningful social impact and equip the next generation with the digital skills needed for the future.

At Orange Foundation, we believe opportunity begins with skills, and that potential only becomes progress when it's put into practice.

That belief drives the Orange Digital Center, which continues to equip young people across Botswana with the digital skills, mentorship, and platforms to move from learning to doing.

This morning, that mission was on full display as the ODC × Botho Employability Fair opened its 3rd edition. It's one of many touchpoints where the Orange Digital Center meets young people where they are, in classrooms, at build sessions, on stage, and gives them room to grow.

This is what an active Orange Digital Center looks like: consistent, hands-on, and built for impact.

Today, the Orange Botswana Foundation proudly continues its Back to School initiative with the handover of school kits to Selebi-Phikwe Primary School.

Each kit has been thoughtfully packed with essential learning materials, including school bags, exercise books, lunch boxes, pencils, rulers, erasers and sharpeners to ensure learners begin the new school term feeling prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

At Orange Botswana Foundation, we believe that investing in education is investing in the future of our nation. We continue to support learners, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for every child to reach their full potential.

Today, that future took another bold step forward as the Orange BotswanaFoundation officially launched its 90th Digital School at Mmadinare Primary School.

For every learner who dreams of becoming a doctor, engineer, entrepreneur, teacher or innovator, access to technology is no longer a luxury—it's a gateway to opportunity.

With the donation of 25 tablets, 25 headsets, two Raspberry Pi servers preloaded with upper primary syllabus and various educational content , a laptop, projector and screen, power banks, and multi-socket chargers, Mmadinare Primary School is now equipped to deliver a more interactive, engaging and digitally enabled learning experience.

The occasion was honoured by keynote speaker Honourable Ketlhalefile Motshegwa, Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, whose presence reaffirmed the shared commitment to transforming education through innovation.

Ninety Digital Schools. Thousands of learners reached. Countless futures waiting to be written.
