Nripen Chowdhury (Master Athlete & International Marathoner)

৬৫ বছর বয়সে হঠাৎ মনে হলো—দৌড়ানো দরকার। সেই ভাবনা থেকেই শুরু। কিন্তু প্রথম দিন আধা কিলোমিটার দৌড় শেষ করতেই হাঁপিয়ে উঠেছিলেন।
আজ তাঁর বয়স ৭৬ বছর।

তিনি বাংলাদেশের মাস্টার অ্যাথলেট, আন্তর্জাতিক ম্যারাথনার এবং দেশের সবচেয়ে সিনিয়র দৌড়বিদ, নৃপেন চৌধুরী!

যিনি একসময় আধা কিলোমিটার দৌড়াতেই কষ্ট পেতেন, তিনিই এখন অনায়াসে ২১, ২৫, ৪২ ও ৫০ কিলোমিটার ম্যারাথন সম্পন্ন করেন।

এ পর্যন্ত তিনি ১০, ২১, ২৫, ৪২ ও ৫০ কিলোমিটার ক্যাটাগরিতে ১৬০টিরও বেশি দৌড় প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশ নিয়েছেন। শুধু তাই নয়, দৌড় শুরু করার আগে যে শ্বাসকষ্ট ও দীর্ঘদিনের সর্দি-নাক বন্ধ থাকার সমস্যায় ভুগতেন, নিয়মিত দৌড় সেই সমস্যাগুলোকেও অনেকটাই দূরে সরিয়ে দিয়েছে।

আজ ৭৬ বছর বয়সে তিনি ৬৫ বছরের চেয়েও বেশি সক্রিয়, প্রাণবন্ত ও কর্মচঞ্চল।

ইউরোপ ও আমেরিকার আন্তর্জাতিক ম্যারাথন থেকে শুরু করে ভারত, নেপালসহ বিভিন্ন দেশে অংশ নিয়ে অর্জন করেছেন একাধিক মাস্টার অ্যাথলেট চ্যাম্পিয়নশিপ। বয়স তাঁর কাছে কেবল একটি সংখ্যা; উদ্যম, শৃঙ্খলা আর অধ্যবসায়ের কাছে বয়স কখনো বাধা হতে পারেনি।

হাজারো দৌড়বিদের মতো আমাদের কাছে নৃপেন চৌধুরী একজন অনুপ্রেরণার নাম। তিনি Cox's Bazar International Marathon-এরও অন্যতম প্রেরণার মানুষ। দেশে কিংবা বিদেশে—যেখানেই থাকুন না কেন, তাঁর উৎসাহ ও অনুপ্রেরণা আমাদের পথচলাকে আরও শক্তিশালী করে।
