WHAT'S GOING ON?
We have been a little radio silent the last month but don't worry, we're still here.
One of the downsides to not having the retail space is that we have more freedom and time for the business stuff, and aren't pressured by the forward facing stuff. Our Chief Borking Officer has been helping with orders and re-organisation of our stock, along with generally pestering us for walks at the most inopportune times.
So what's been happening? Well, the last month we have been working to onboard 2 new brands, and some of you may have already spied some of their products on the website. The back end work around this is just one of the reasons we aren't as consistent with updates.
We are hoping to be land some more restocks, along with a Crankset and Wheel top-up in the coming 2 weeks, and a much awaited small parts refills.
On the hunt for something and it's out of stock? Let us know and we will make sure to see how we can help you.

MKULTRA
Around 7 months ago, we started the journey on our new wheels and it's still going, each build has provided us with some ideas of things we want to improve. We always wanted to focus on developing and curating what we believe to be the ideal wheel and these are pretty close to it. One of the challenges is when we began development, we realised our newest profile design was not suitable for all frames and bikes, so we worked to re-develop our FIA600 to bring down the weight and provide higher performance all round. After reducing the weight of our wheels by around 400g, we landed here.
Adrian came to us looking for something a little more stealth than our intended artwork, and we dreamt up the these semi-gloss with black decals as a result.
SPECS

SHOULD I WAX MY TRACK CHAIN?
In Volume 2 of Track Rambling (aka Matt's rants) we share the first of many opinion pieces to come, and dive into waxing track chains and why we believe that for most chains it's a bad idea.
We have around 15 concept posts drafted thanks to the feedback, and if you have an opinion, idea, or something you want us to write about let us know.

TRACK RAMBLINGS - A BLOG SERIES
I've always enjoyed a good rant, especially about things which I think are wrong, or need work, or just because.
In the coming weeks, I'm going to be doing some more writing, starting specifically with Track. I've got a few concepts already in my head and would love some suggestions on things I should be covering.
It could be tech questions, solutions for common problems, our favourite tools or just general advice.
Our first post is around what causes wheels to pull, and we answer the questions that we keep getting asked about how to prevent it.

HOGA15A
A long time favourite of GEAR Shop Brisbane is the Aqualia wrenches by Runwell. The HOGA15A is the Titanium version of their most popular 15mm ring spanner.
Finished with a blue and purple fade, these super lightweight wrenches are the perfect gift for the aspiring track mechanic, or the enthusiast who wants a bit of bling.

RUNWELL COG1218LG LIMITED EDITION
When you're as big of fans of Runwell as we are, when a limited drop is announced, we grab absolutely as many as we can. If you're unfamiliar with the COG1218L, it's the strongest "chip whip" on the market, and removes sprockets with zero issue. Coupled with an inbuild lock-ring tool, these are the go to for track essentials.
Donned in black and gold, these wrenches are limited to 30 globally, grab one while you can.

TRACK IS BACK
It's a lovely feeling when a build just comes together exactly how you planned.
The build started from the basis of finding a frame that fits, and the Raiden was one of the only platforms allowing the adjustability and stack height we needed to get Rob on the track.
We have paired the frame to an SRM PM9, Velobike Drivetrain with HKK Vertex Chain, Velobike Longboi Stem and Track Handlebar, and finished it off with a set of our very own MKULTRA Wheels.
The build wouldn't be complete without supplying a full set of Runwell Tools, Skingrowsback Chainring bag, and a set of rings and sprockets.
Now it's time to pack this up and ship it up to its new home in Brisbane, where it'll be gracing the boards regularly.

FRAME IT THE RIGHT WAY
When many manufacturers and suppliers are finding new ways to restrict trade, whilst actively complaining that they're not making sales.... Others like Factor are continuing to support us the right way. And we LOVE IT. This lovely Raiden frame is in the queue to be built and back out the door to it's new home in QLD, back where it all began.
We have faced a lot of challenges in the last few months whilst we geared back up and got things going again, and the stock supply challenges have been tough on us, both mentally and from a cash-flow perspective. Without customers diving back in and putting their trust in us, we wouldn't be able to keep doing what we do.... But it isn't all roses, and we thank you for that support.
For those who don't know, the bike industry can seem extremely impossible at times, and in a niche community like Track and Fixed-Gear, the close minded views that manufacturers, distributors and their sales representatives have is making it harder and harder to do what we do best, support you. But don't worry, we are staying positive in the sea of negativity, and we're going to be a little bit more open about the challenges in the coming months. Our newsletter is going to be the little voice that sits behind what we do, and hopefully you can see we are trying to frame it all the right way... Maybe it's time to spill the tea on the shenanigans that the industry is driven by.
With that said - we are working on bringing some new brands to the fold to help support the Aussie market, and we need your feedback on things you'd like to see. Maybe you're a manufacturer abroad and you want to chat about the market? We're all ears! And remember.... NEVER. STATUS. QUO.

MAVIC ELLIPSE
Another long time favourite back in stock. Since 2003, the Ellipse remains basically unchanged, with only some minor hub updates, along with the addition of a tubeless ready profile in 2024, bringing it inline with the rest of the market.
A timeless option for every track or fixed build.
Back in stock and ready to ship out to you
