Two weeks ago, our weekly sport teams competed in the annual pink round within the SAAS, IGSSA, and other local competitions. Pink round is to promote Women’s Health awareness in our schools and community. A chance to pause and think of the women who are in our lives. Our Woodcroft teams wore splashes of pink throughout their games.

Congratulations to Sam, who was awarded the pink round medal from the Open A3 Basketball matchup against Gleeson.

This pink award is not for the best player in a team; it is for the best teammate. The person in your team that you love to play with, because they give their team and teammates their all, they encourage and care for their teammates.

SSSA Statewide 7-9 Boys Netball 🏐

On Thursday last week, we hosted Sacred Heart College in Round 2 of the SSSA Year 7-9 Boys Knockout Netball competition.

It was great to welcome back our three students who recently represented South Australia at the SSSA 15 & Under Championships.

After a tightly contested opening, our boys found another gear, lifting their intensity and teamwork to pull away from Sacred Heart and secure an impressive victory.

The win sees the team advance to the State Championships at The Lights on 4 September. Congratulations to all the boys on a fantastic performance, and best of luck at the finals!

Thank you to Ben Ryan and Mrs Lawson for coaching and inspiring the team!

We had two teams compete in the School Sport SA Year 9/10 Girls Basketball Day Carnival, against Reynella East College, Thomas More College and Goolwa High School. It was a fun day of basketball and high spirits.

For half of our players, this was their first real introduction to competitive basketball. Drawing on skills from netball, football and soccer, the girls adapted brilliantly and quickly transferred those abilities to the basketball court. They embraced the challenge, had plenty of fun and demonstrated impressive performances throughout the day.

Congratulations to both teams for their enthusiasm, sportsmanship and willingness to give something new a go. It was fantastic to see the girls enjoying the opportunity to represent the College and participate in such a positive sporting experience.

A big thank you to Jacqui, Hannah and Year 11 student, Bella for coaching and supporting the teams throughout the day.

A special thank you also goes to Year 11 student, Zahli for officiating the games and helping make the day a success.
