I am incredibly happy with this little holiday collaboration all framed up by Scott Pickett ❤️ The float mounting for textiles really compliments the works. I gave it to my in-laws today as a memory of a very special holiday we all had in the middle of winter at Golden Beach near the Gippsland lakes. I came on the holiday with all my random art supplies excited there was going to be no mobile reception and we could all connect through art, board games and the like. When we arrived there was reception 🥲 but it was crap so we all still walked to the beach, collected coastal flowers, grasses and twigs to expose on this Cyanotype fabric which I then embroidered intuitively while we were all sitting by the fire together throughout the weekend. It was the first holiday in ages that we were all able to catch up because we were not sick and would not affect those who are immunocompromised in our family. Ace to explore a destination we had never been to and it was really a lovely time of connection. A time to remember indeed ❤️ Anyone keen to do an Intuitive sewing workshop? Or Cyanotype and sewing session? I think it’s such an incredible combination. Comment if you are keen!

Tongue tied….has been the feeling I have had since going to Massive Attack last week. Hard to describe the feeling of being confronted with such intense information about how we are being controlled both online and in real life. Powerless and powerful, confronting and confronted…the ambient and though provoking lyrics of Massive Attack framed these messages. I have felt the need to get out of my head and back into my hands and mending my partners favourite hat was the first thing I have been able to do to fix something in front of me. Small yes! Important to him ❤️ Not sure where we can start fixing this world in which we live, but let’s start with peace, no war and support and love those around us. We as a collective can make a difference…make a start!

I got sucked in! Late night this nifty little device popped up in my feed and I gave in! Weaving has never been my thing, i am really not patient enough….but I have been breathing through the frustration and managed to fix a couple of beautiful quality and much loved items. I am going to keep in practicing and work up to the very important job of fixing the hand knitted socks my dear nana Joy made me. The incredible pieces she knitted need to be saved. Wish me luck!!

I have been craving studio time but have just not made it in this week. I got stuck on the train instead going to visit a dear friend who was vid Melbourne who I hadn’t seen in 8 years(which was wonderful once we saw each other)! While I had no control of this situation I took the moment to reminisce about days gone by. In 2018 I dreamt up this beautiful old caravan studio which I parked in my driveway. I shared the space with my daughter who was three at the time and we would pretend to drink tea, have picnic lunches and when I could I would paint. This is when my watercolour birds appeared in my works which are still popular on cards and prints. Taking things slower at this time I enjoyed these moments of decorating my van, playing house and taking meandering walks with my daughter collecting sticks, gardening and playing at the park. All the good things! I was also featured in the Surf Coast Times at this time. I asked Mike McLean Artist to come and paint a couple of wagtails on my van also. This I think was the beginning on his bird trail which I love to spy all over the surfcoast, Geelong and outer Melbourne. So nice having to reflect on these times in my creative life….this was definitely a gorgeous place to create ❤️

What is a wild thing? What makes a place wild? Elizabeth Van Herwaarden “Creativity is essential for our wellbeing. Aliveness is the difference between thriving and just surviving. Aliveness happens when we are creative and playful.” Esther Perel, Psychotherapist. So glad I got the chance to pop into this gorgeous exhibition RUT. today ❤️ I felt Calm amongst the madness of life visiting Elizabeth Van Herwaarden show. I loved looking through her experimental works of foraged plant fibres and admire her ability to create paper from wild fennel, printing inks for bark and leaves. Her hand spun and hand died paper was just stunning. Very inspiring ❤️
