MEET YOUR 2026/27 A GRADE CAPTAIN — HAYDEN CAMPBELL
A familiar face around Mets, Hayden Campbell has been a key part of our A Grade side for the past five seasons and continues to play a big role in the club both on and off the field.
Alongside his playing commitments, Hayden has been heavily involved in the running of the club, including his role on the Mets committee, helping with club events, social activities and plenty of the work that goes on behind the scenes.
Last season, Hayden took on the A Grade captaincy during a period of significant change, with a large turnover of players and a new-look group coming together.
While the results weren’t always what the side wanted, the 2025/26 season was very much about development and building for the future. With a season together now under their belts, Hayden and the A Grade group will be looking to turn those foundations into results in 2026/27.
When asked what he’s most looking forward to this season, Hayden said:
“Last season was an important rebuilding year for us. After spending a full season together, I’m looking forward to seeing the group build confidence, strengthen our mateship and hopefully put together some really good cricket this year.”
And his one non-negotiable for the group?
“Play for each other, back each other, and take responsibility for your own performance.”
After a year of rebuilding, the foundations are in place. Now Hayden will be looking to lead this group into the next chapter and get the Trojans competing strongly at the top level again.
The rebuild is done. Now it’s time to see what this group can do. 👊

MEET YOUR 2026/27 WOMEN’S OPEN CAPTAIN — RICHELLE JEFFREY
After taking on the challenge of leading the first-ever Metropolitan Easts Women’s team last season, Richelle Jeffrey didn’t just step up, she helped create something special.
In the team’s first season, Richelle led the Trojans all the way to the Grand Final, producing results on the field while also building a fantastic team culture off it.
With a mix of experienced players and newcomers, Richelle helped foster an environment where young and old could come together, enjoy their cricket and represent Mets with pride. The women did the club incredibly proud in their first season, and Richelle played a huge part in that success.
Now, she’s back for 2026/27, ready to pick up where they left off and continue building something special.
When asked what she’s most looking forward to this season, Richelle said:
“Last year was our first year together with a mix of experienced and new players. We had a lot of fun, so looking forward to picking up where we left off and continuing to improve as a team.”
And when it comes to her one non-negotiable team rule:
“Always be a team player.”
A simple message that perfectly sums up what Richelle brought to the side last season.
After reaching the Grand Final in their debut season, the Women’s team will be looking to take the next step in 2026/27.
Can Richelle lead the Trojans women one step further this season? 👀🏆

MEET YOUR 2026/27 RESERVE GRADE CAPTAIN — DARRYL PETTIT
After taking on the Reserve Grade captaincy last season and learning on the job, Darryl Pettit led the boys to an incredibly successful season.
🏆T20 Premiers
🥈Two Day Runners-Up — falling short by the barest of margins
🏏One Day Finalists
Now, Darryl is back at the helm for 2026/27, with unfinished business and a clear goal of going one better in the Two Day competition.
When asked what he’s most looking forward to this season, Darryl said:
“I’m looking forward to getting the lads back together and after being runners up in the two dayers last season it’s a goal to go one better this year and win the premiership.”
And when it comes to his one non-negotiable team rule:
“Effort and application with bat, ball, and in the field. Without this we can't push for premiership glory!”
After a season that saw Reserve Grade come agonisingly close in the Two Dayers while taking out the T20 premiership, Darryl and the boys will be hungry to finish the job this time around.
Can the Reserve Grade boys go one better in 2026/27? 👀🏆
26/08/2026
MEET YOUR 2026/27 B GRADE CAPTAIN — BEN JEFFREY
Another true Mets stalwart, Ben Jeffrey has been a huge part of the club for many years, both on and off the field.
From playing his part in club committees to being a regular face at Mets social events, Ben is someone who has always put plenty back into the club.
And after leading our B Grade side through an undefeated 2025/26 season and taking home all three trophy's, Ben returns as skipper looking to do it all over again!
Ben has built a tight-knit group that genuinely enjoys playing cricket together, and that enjoyment is at the heart of his approach to the season.
When asked what he's most looking forward to in 2026/27, Ben said:
"Just looking forward to getting back on the field with the lads! We all enjoy playing together, so any success we have on the field is a bonus!”
And as for Ben's non-negotiable team rule?
“Dig in… Cash in.”
If last season is anything to go by, the B Grade boys will be looking to do plenty of cashing in again this year!
Can Ben lead the boys to back-to-back undefeated seasons?

FIRST OFF THE CAB, MEET YOUR 2026/27 C GRADE CAPTAIN — PAUL AMBROSIUSSEN
A true Mets stalwart, Paul Ambrosiussen has been part of the fabric of Metropolitan Easts for many years and is one of the most recognisable faces around the club.
Whether he’s on the field or bailing an unsuspecting patron up at the Irish Club Hotel for a yarn, Paul is never too far away! His passion for the club, his ability to connect with players young and old, and his love of the social side of the Mets make him a perfect fit to lead our C Grade side.
After falling just short in two Grand Finals last season, Paul is back in 2026/27 with unfinished business and another crack at going one better. 🏆
When asked what he’s most looking forward to this season, Paul had a clear focus:
“Focusing on the journey, not the result. Creating a team culture and season built around that.”
And when it comes to his one non-negotiable team rule?
“Beverages after the game at the Irish Club Hotel.”
We’re excited to have Paul leading the charge again this season. After two Grand Final heartbreaks last year, can he finally get his hands on the silverware? 👀
