Another great piece of diving history a Chirana PL-40 twin-hose regulator, made in Czechoslovakia in May 1964.
The original identification plate shows Serial No. 393, and it remains complete with its corrugated hoses and mouthpiece. A fantastic example of 1960s Eastern European scuba technology and another unusual regulator in the Vintage Scuba Gear Australia collection.

Check out this Chirana PL-401 twin hose regulator from 1966, paired with the impressive DM-3 full-face diving mask.

Made in Czechoslovakia for professional and military diving, this example still carries its original identification plate: Type PL401, Serial No. 768, dated October 1966.

The PL-401 followed Chirana’s earlier PL-40 and reflects an interesting period when European manufacturers were developing their own twin hose equipment, influenced in part by pioneering French regulators such as the La Spirotechnique CG45.

60 years old this year and a fantastic survivor from behind the Iron Curtain. https://www.vintagescubagear.com.au/product/chirana-pl-401-diving-regulator-dm-3-mask/

A very unusual piece of vintage diving history!

This La Spirotechnique Mistral twin-hose regulator is fitted with the rare ERUS 2 wireless mouthpiece certainly not something you come across very often.

Help Build the Worldwide U.S. Divers Regulator Database

Do you own a vintage U.S. Divers / Aqua-Lung twin-hose regulator?

We’d love you to add it to our new worldwide database. The idea is simple record as many surviving regulators as possible so that, over the coming years, we can start to see how many are still out there, where they are, serial number ranges and different models and variations.

Whether yours is rare, common, restored or well-used, every regulator counts.

Add yours to the database and help us build a valuable historical record for future collectors and researchers.

This vintage Sea-Tite underwater camera housing was made in Sydney, Australia, most likely during the late 1970s or 1980s.
Sea-Tite, founded by Barry Davies, built specialist underwater housings for everything from Nikon and medium-format cameras through to full-size professional television cameras.
They even produced a housing for the RCA TK-76B broadcast camera in 1979, rated to 50 metres. https://www.vintagescubagear.com.au/product/sea-tite-underwater-camera-housing/

Now this is an unusual U.S. Divers Mistral!

This original U.S. Divers Mistral twin hose regulator has had heavy stainless steel covers fitted to both sides at some point in its life.
Why? I honestly have no idea but that’s what makes vintage scuba gear so interesting. Divers were great at modifying and experimenting with their equipment, and every now and then something truly unique turns up.
Has anyone ever seen another Mistral modified like this, or have any idea why it was done? https://www.vintagescubagear.com.au/product/modified-us-divers-mistral-twin-hose-regulator/

Did you know this camera changed underwater photography forever?
This is the Calypso Underwater Camera, developed around 1960 for Jacques Cousteau by Belgian engineer Jean de Wouters. It was the world's first truly practical waterproof 35mm camera that didn't need a bulky external housing.
Its innovative design proved so successful that Nikon later acquired the rights, and it evolved into the legendary Nikonos series, used by underwater photographers for decades.
This particular camera still retains its original SOM Berthiot 35mm lens and even the original wrist strap. It's a remarkable piece of diving history and one of the most significant underwater cameras ever made.
Do you have a Calypso or a Nikonos in your collection? We'd love to see it! https://www.vintagescubagear.com.au/product/calypso-underwater-camera/

One of the true legends of vintage scuba the La Spirotechnique Mistral. Introduced in 1955, the Mistral replaced the famous CG45 and helped bring recreational scuba diving to the world. Its simple, rugged single-stage twin-hose design became the regulator most closely associated with Jacques Cousteau and the voyages of the Calypso.
This beautiful example still carries its original Cousteau–Gagnan badge and 27 Rue Trébois, Levallois address plate, making it a wonderful piece of French diving history. www.vintagescubagear.com.au
