‘Real gap in our understanding': Experts say data needed on brain fog in menopause
I talk about Dexa scans a lot! Get your bones checked out if you can. Osteoporosis is a silent disease and you often don’t know you have it until you fracture something. If you know what your bone density is like earlier, you can do something about it 👍
(And strength training will help you build strong bones so come along and try a session!)

When someone new comes to my strength training sessions, I always do a quick medical check with them.
The last question is:
“Is there anything else that might affect your ability to exercise?”
…and almost without fail, the answer is:
“My lack of fitness/strength.”
And I always say the same thing…
That is NOT a problem.
Everyone has to start somewhere.
And I can guarantee that whatever your starting point, regularly lifting weights WILL make you stronger.
I encourage all my ladies to lift a weight that feels challenging for them.
And that looks completely different for everyone. The weight itself is irrelevant.
What matters is that your body has to work hard to lift it…
push it… pull it… hinge it… squat it. That’s where the magic happens.
And my sessions are the opposite of an anonymous gym.
I know everyone who comes. What they struggle with. What weight will challenge them. What injuries we need to work around.
My job is to push you slightly out of your comfort zone — while keeping you safe.
It’s also why I cap sessions at 10. It means I can watch, support and encourage, and make sure everyone is moving well as we build strength.
Right now I have 34 lovely women coming once or twice a week across my 4 sessions.
From their 40s up to 70s… all different levels… and every single one of them is fabulous 🤩
So the question is…
Would you like to join us?
Spaces are getting limited, so if you’ve been thinking about it, send me a message and I’ll get you booked in for a free trial 💛
All the details are in the comments 👇
When was the last time you pushed yourself out of your comfort zone?
I’m sat at the beach watching the Coogee Island Challenge.
It’s something I’ve talked about doing since I moved here… but I’ve never quite been brave enough to enter.
I’m an ok swimmer, but deep ocean swimming terrifies me (you know… sharks, not being able to see the bottom 😅).
I even did water safety last year and went around the course on a board, thinking it might ease me in… but here I am again, watching from the sand.
Because it’s easier to stay in your comfort zone, right?
I’ve spoken to lots of women since starting The Menopause PT, and so many of them haven’t exercised for a long time — or have never tried lifting weights.
For them, walking into a strength session feels like my Island Challenge.
It’s scary.
I get it.
But some push through and come anyway.
And there is nothing I love more than seeing the look on someone’s face when they realise they can do it… and how good it feels to move and strengthen their body.
So if you’ve been thinking about coming to a session but haven’t quite summoned the courage yet…
I’ll make you a deal.
I’ll sign up for the Island Challenge in Spring…
and you come along for a free session 💛
And if there’s anyone who fancies doing it with me — please let me know 😅
This week has been the first week of the Easter holidays.
It’s been good on the whole… but full on.
Beach, swimming, play dates, adventures — non stop.
Which means:
I’ve had no time to myself to exercise, the apartment is a tip, and food has been more of a “what can I quickly grab” rather than planned and healthy.
Add in my 3-day hangover from the Easter weekend and I haven’t been feeling my best 😅
And it’s made me realise something…
I need to find a better balance when we’re out of routine.
Yes, the kids are off.
But that doesn’t have to mean I sacrifice the things that keep me sane.
Because being consistent when life is hectic is hard…
but it’s these moments that actually matter most.
Exercise and eating well can’t just happen when life is calm.
They need to be part of your life through the busy, chaotic times too.
So today, I’ve sent my husband to the beach with the kids… and I’ve come to the gym.
Because I am a happier, better mum when I’ve had time to myself and moved my body.
And next week, whilst we’ll still have lots of fun, I’ve made it clear I’ll also be taking some time for me (thank you crèche/vacation care!).
This is your little nudge to look at your routine…
How well is it actually serving you?
Do you need to carve out more time for yourself?
Make yourself a priority for a change?
Because there will always be a million and one things to do.
And if you put yourself last every time… you’ll never get to you.
It’s not selfish to look after yourself — mentally and physically.
You are worth it 💛
✨ And if you need a bit of structure, my sessions are running as normal — you’re always welcome to come and try one. First session is free. All dets in comments

Anyone else feeling a bit… meh after the Easter weekend? 😅
I’ll be honest — I had a few drinks, ate more chocolate than usual, didn’t move as much and by the end of it I was feeling pretty rubbish.
Bloated, tired, low energy… just not quite myself.
And it reminded me of something really important:
A few days off doesn’t undo everything.
But it does show you how good you normally feel when you’re looking after yourself.
So instead of going into full “I need to be perfect again” mode this week…
I’m just getting back to basics:
– moving my body
– drinking more water
– eating proper meals
– getting an early night
Nothing extreme. No punishment. Just back into routine.
Because that’s what actually works.
If you’re feeling the same this week — you’re not alone 💛
Just start where you are and get back into it.
And if you’re juggling Easter holidays, kids, work, life admin… and still trying to fit in exercise and eat well — I feel you.
It’s not easy. But small steps still count.
✨ Sessions are running as normal this week if you need that bit of structure — you’re always welcome to come and try one 💛 I have spaces in Thursday’s sessions- 6-7pm or 7-8pm. Message to book in

What’s your sleep routine like?
Sleep is everything.
A good night’s sleep means a more productive day… but it’s more than that.
Sleep is when your body recovers, repairs and resets.
It supports your hormones, your mood, your energy and even how well you train.
It protects your body long term too. Better sleep = lower risk of all major diseases
If you don’t sleep well (and during menopause, decent sleep often goes out the window) there are always things to try. Little things can make big differences…
For me, I’m trying to keep things simple:
– winding down earlier, lights dimmed
– phone away (trying 😅)
– getting to bed at a roughly the same time every day
- cool, dark bedroom
- sleep meditation to quiet my thoughts and help me drift off
Not perfect… but better.
Because when I sleep well, everything feels easier.
What helps you get a good night’s sleep? 💛

A review from Amanda :)
"I’ve been absolutely loving Lorna’s strength classes and can’t recommend them highly enough! Since joining, I’ve noticed a real increase in my strength, and what I appreciate most is that the classes are challenging no matter what your fitness level. Lorna has a real talent for pushing everyone in the right way.
I’ve also been pleasantly surprised by the flexibility gains I’ve experienced. The stretching incorporated into each session is something I’ve come to really look forward to. Lorna is clearly very skilled at what she does and keeps things fresh and interesting with a great variety of exercises. There’s never a dull session! My only regret is that I can’t make it more often. If you’re looking for a class that will deliver real results in a fun and engaging environment, look no further!"
Fancy trying a session? The first one is free so come along and give it a go. Just send me a quick message to book in.
Where: Scout Hall, Coogee
When: Tuesday and Thursday 6-7pm & 7-8pm

This made my day 💛 A review from one of my lovely regulars, Erin.
“Bringing women together united by a common desire to be healthier and stronger creates a special atmosphere in Lorna’s sessions.
Lorna brings a great energy to training and strikes the right balance between giving encouragement and challenge.
The sessions are welcoming, inclusive and effective.
I can feel myself getting stronger, this is one of the highlights of my week! 💪🏻”
This is exactly what I want every woman to feel when she comes to a session.
Strong. Supported. Part of something.
I’ve got a couple of spaces left tonight if anyone’s been thinking about joining — come and try a session for free and see what it’s all about. 6-7pm or 7-8pm 🙌
Send me a message if you’d like a spot 💛

My strength training classes in Coogee follow a similar structure each week.
Why?
Because consistency gets results.
We’re not here for random workouts or to feel completely broken after every session…
…we’re here to get stronger, move better and feel better — week by week.
We always start with bodyweight work — mobility, balance and glute activation — getting the body switched on and ready.
Then we move into the main part of the session… weights and strength work.
This is where the magic happens — building muscle, supporting our bones, improving posture and confidence.
And we always finish with a proper wind down — stretching, breathwork and a chance to slow everything down before heading home.
Because it’s not just about working hard… it’s about feeling good afterwards too.
This is what training should feel like.
✨ I’ve got a few spaces available at the moment.
If you’ve been thinking about starting, this is your sign.
Come and try your first session for free — no pressure, just come along and see how it feels.
