New on Substack: Roll With the Punches – Flexible Thinking in Times of Stress.

Mike Tyson famously said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” It made me think about how quickly life can unravel our carefully laid plans.

In this article, I explore why adaptability matters more than perfection, how giving ourselves extra time to process can lead to wiser responses, and why letting go of constant planning can create more peace than trying to control every outcome.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. When has life forced you to change course, and what did it teach you?

How are you celebrating Disability Pride Month?

This Disability Pride Month, I’m celebrating in ways that genuinely support my wellbeing as a disabled, neurodivergent woman.

First, I meditate for 20 minutes every day. Meditation helps me reconnect with my body and my breath, release physical tension, and observe my thoughts without getting caught up in them. I finish feeling calmer, with more clarity, energy and focus to prioritise what matters.

Second, I intentionally like, comment on and share neuro-affirming content from neurodivergent creators. It’s a simple way to support others while staying connected to a community where I feel understood.

Third, I write about my experiences. Whether it’s my The Artist’s Way morning pages, journalling, weekly Substack articles, or the writing course I’m completing with HeartWriting, writing helps me make sense of my experiences and, I hope, helps others feel a little less alone.

These practices remind me that disability pride isn’t about pretending things are easy. For me, it’s about understanding myself, honouring my needs, and celebrating the life I’m creating.

Winter invites us to slow down, and nature shows us how.

This month, I’m choosing to spend a little more time outdoors. Watching the sunrise, noticing the birds, feeling the winter air, and remembering that rest is just as important as doing.

Sometimes five mindful minutes outside is enough to shift your perspective.

How will you nurture yourself with nature this July? 🌿
