2026 NSW State Open Lead & Para Climbing Titles

The climbing, the cheering, the people — what a day at Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym St Peters! 💙

A few moments from a big day on the wall across Open A, Open B, Masters, Inclusive, Para and Youth Development. Thanks to everyone who climbed, cheered or came along to watch, and congratulations to everyone who competed — especially those at their first State comp!

And how good were the routes? Big thanks to our brilliant routesetting team: Head Routesetter Liam Healy, Jono Lim, Lily Watkins, Dillon Eduardo, Kale McCauley and Head Routesetter assessor Carlie LeBreton.

Thanks to our judges, officials, belayers, scorekeepers, rego desk, first aid, timekeepers, isolation marshals, SCNSW event and volunteer coordinators, and everyone who lent a hand. We couldn't do this without you!!

Keen to set at the 2026 NSW State Open Boulder Titles? Applications are now open.

We’re putting together a motivated routesetting team to deliver a great SCNSW State comp at 9Degrees Chatswood. 9 Degrees Sydney

If you’re keen to contribute, collaborate with a focused and supportive crew and create some awesome blocs, we’d love to hear from you.

Event dates: 14–15 November 2026
Routesetting dates: 10–13 November 2026
Location: 9Degrees Chatswood

Applications close Sunday 27 September at 6pm, and the team will be confirmed by 3 October 2026.

A quick look back at last year’s event as we count down to doing it all again.

This is your final weekend to register, with categories including Open A, Para Climbing, Open B, Masters 40+, Inclusive and Youth Development for climbers born in 2011.

Whether you’re chasing a State title, coming along to gain more competition experience or just want to climb some awesome routes we’d love to see you on the wall.

Not competing? Spectators are welcome, and we still have volunteer roles available throughout the day.

2026 NSW OPEN LEAD & PARA CLIMBING TITLES

Not feeling like tying in?

Grab the other end of the rope instead! We’re looking for belayers throughout the day, particularly from 3:00–5:30 pm and 6:00–8:30 pm for next weekend's big event on Saturday 19 September.

If belaying isn’t your vibe, we also need judges, timekeepers, iso marshals and general helpers. Every person appreciated. 💙

Support your climbing community and help keep the event running smoothly. There’ll be a coffee and pastry on us as a little thank you.

Next up in Setters Show and Tell is Kale, joining our setting team from the ACT. For Kale, it’s all about good-looking holds, getting a little arty and putting up some cool routes.

The setting team is psyched, and it’s shaping up to be a great time on the wall. Don’t forget, we’ve got categories for all: Open A, Open B, Masters, Inclusive, Para Climbing and a Youth Development opportunity for climbers born in 2011.

We asked Liam Healy sydney cave troll ,Head Routesetter for this event, to show us some of his favourite holds. Apparently, he likes them bad. We promise they won’t all be bad 😉

There’s a category for everyone, with Open A, Open B, Masters, Inclusive and our Para Climbing sport classes. Climbers born in 2011 can also join our Youth Development opportunity and gain some more competition experience.

Youth Development at the 2026 NSW State Open Lead & Para Climbing Titles

For this competition, we’re excited to offer our younger lead climbers another opportunity to gain competition experience.

The Youth Development category is specifically for experienced lead climbers born in 2011. It gives these athletes more time on the wall in a competition environment while building their skills and confidence alongside the wider NSW lead climbing community.

It’s all happening at SICG St Peters on Saturday 19 September. SYDNEY INDOOR CLIMBING GYM
