⚾️ Driveline + Pocket Radar — can you help explain this one?

We came across something pretty interesting during velocity testing and would genuinely love some insight into what might be happening here.

Same athlete. Same session. Same radar. Multiple throws.

🔴 Driveline 5oz ball:
91 mph
89 mph
88 mph
91 mph

⚾️ Rawlings 5oz baseball:
80 mph
81 mph
79 mph
Consistently around the 80 mph mark.

That’s a pretty significant difference considering both balls are listed at 5oz, and we repeated the testing multiple times with similar results.

So what’s causing it?

Is there something about the construction, size, density or aerodynamics of the Driveline ball that could produce a higher velocity?

Or could Pocket Radar be reading the two types of balls differently because of their material/construction?

Would love to hear from Driveline Baseball and Pocket Radar on this one — and anyone else who has tested something similar.

Not trying to draw conclusions from one test. Just genuinely interested in understanding why we’re seeing a 8–11+ mph difference between two 5oz balls.
