People often assume bigger classes mean better value.

More people.
More machines.
More “energy.”

But Pilates was never meant to be about squeezing as many bodies into a room as possible.

At Movement Collective, our sessions are intentionally small — because we believe better teaching creates better outcomes.

With only four people per class, we can actually see you.

Your movement patterns.
Your habits.
Your progress.
Your good days.
Your hard days.

We can adapt the work in real time, give meaningful corrections, and teach the body in front of us — not just deliver choreography to a room.

So yes, from the outside we might seem more expensive than studios running classes with double (or triple) the numbers.

But you’re not just paying for a class.

You’re investing in:
– individual attention
– thoughtful programming
– experienced teaching
– progression over performance
– Pilates designed for your body

Because real results don’t come from fitting more people into a class.

They come from being seen. 🤍

We don’t call ourselves Pilates teachers by accident.

Most people have experienced Pilates as being told what to do.
Follow along. Keep up. Do it like this.

But bodies don’t work like that.

No two are the same.
No two need the same thing.
And no two should be taught the same way.

So we don’t teach to a class.
We teach the body in front of us.

We watch.
We adjust.
We explain.

Because it’s not about getting through the workout.
It’s about understanding your body.

Why it works.
Where you feel it.
What changes when you adjust.

Not just movement.
Understanding.

That’s where things shift.

Pilates for you, not the person next to you.

Today we said goodbye to Tim 🥲 Tim Duschesne started as a client with us way back in our Turramurra studio in 2005.
Tim was in his 70’s at the time but embraced his new 2 x weekly Pilates Sessions with a dedication that would have made Joe Pilates himself extremely proud.

Not only was Tim the model client, he was truly loved and liked by anyone who had the privilege of either teaching him or working alongside him in class.

Tim was a true gentleman always polite and pre Covid loved to sit and chat after class drinking tea with the ladies.

Tim was patient and understanding whenever a new or trainee instructor was taking the class and it didn’t take him long to have them ship shape and up to scratch just as he had with his beloved naval ships.

Tim loved being “our Pilates poster boy” at the age of 93, just 3 years ago when Pilates became his norm again after lockdowns.

I personally thought Tim was ageless and would be around for another decade doing pilates.

When I decided to sell our Pymble studio a few years ago and Augusto our lovely Brazilian /Pilates instructor was returning home, we all had a little cry as it was the end of an era. Tim was also a softie which we loved ❤️

Augusto and Tim had a very special bond as they were both into fitness - Tim walking 2kms everyday and Augusto with his Triathlons. There was much manly discussion about their respective achievements while fine tuning Tim’s Pilates moves.

Tim was one of the first clients to welcome Robyn as the new owner of his beloved studio and I believe he was still making his regular sessions just a couple of weeks ago.

I was honoured to attend his funeral or farewell today at the Garrison church and hear about his wonderful life and exploits in his beloved Navy and of course the biggest love of his life his family.

Thanks for the privilege of knowing you for these past 20 years Tim and may you rest in peace. You will truly be missed by everyone who knew you

Your Pilates buddy

I hate enforcing our cancellation policy… but I have to.

With only 4 people per class, every booking holds real weight. When someone cancels late, that spot often goes unfilled — and that revenue is lost.

We’re not a big gym with endless capacity to absorb that.

The reality is, it’s the only way we can keep our package prices where they are while still paying our teachers fairly and running a sustainable business.

And honestly? Every time I enforce it, it feels like there’s a lion chasing me

But it’s not about being strict — it’s about keeping things fair, consistent, and sustainable for everyone.

We’re so grateful for the clients who respect this. It truly makes all the difference
