🏌️‍♀️💨 THURSDAY LADIES GOLF | ENDEAVOUR SHIELD – ROUND 5 💨🏌️‍♀️

As the ladies rolled into the carpark this morning, there was plenty of discussion about whether golf would actually be on the agenda, with the poor air quality across Quirindi following a battery fire at the Liverpool Plains Shire Council landfill. 😷💨

Fortunately, a light breeze was blowing throughout the morning. The smoke rolled in at times, but just when the coughing and spluttering was becoming a little too enthusiastic, the wind would change and the air would clear. And so, with a few deep breaths and plenty of determination, the ladies managed to enjoy their golf! 😂🏌️‍♀️

Today was Round 5 of the Endeavour Shield, which is contested throughout our winter 18-hole competitions. The overall Endeavour Shield winner will be announced at our Ladies Annual Presentation Day in November.

Each week we are also lucky enough to have a trophy donor, and today we were delighted to have the support of Sue Cudmore – affectionately known as Flower! 🌸

Flower not only provided today's winners' prizes, but also cooked up an absolute storm for everyone to enjoy after the round! 🍲🍰🍓 Soup, fresh fruit and some seriously delicious cake were waiting in the clubhouse.

Really, who needs to play golf when you can just turn up for the post-round feast? 😂

🏆 TODAY'S RESULTS
🥇 Winner: Phoebe Clift – 37 points
A very nice card from Phoebe, helped along by a fine birdie on the 16th, which resulted in a handy 4-pointer! 👏⛳️
🥈 Runner-up: Kathy Richardson – 36 points
Kathy is certainly in good form at the moment after taking top spot on the podium last week. She finished on 36 points, on a countback from Mozzie Brownhill, who collected the ball credit. 👏

After many, many years of supporting our ladies – as well as providing the town with plenty of fabulous hair services – Dion from Hair By Dion has handed over the reins to Lara Sampson of Hummingbird Quirindi, which can be found in the former Lush Hair & Beauty salon. 💇‍♀️🌿
We are very excited for Lara as she begins her new enterprise and would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Dion for her many years of support of our Thursday ladies. ❤️

Today, only two of the four possible NTPs were awarded, and Mozzie must have had a particularly keen eye for the short holes, taking both the 8th and 17th! 🎯👏

Sue Davis also carded a very handy score on the 10th, which certainly helped save that hole. ⛳️

💜 NEXT THURSDAY – ANNUAL BRING & BUY DAY 💜

Next week is our annual Bring & Buy Day, with all funds raised this year going directly to Pankind, Pancreatic Cancer Australia, which is dedicated to increasing survival rates and improving outcomes for people impacted by pancreatic cancer.

As one of our previous members is currently experiencing pancreatic cancer first-hand, this is a cause that is particularly close to our hearts.
We encourage all our ladies – and any men who would like to join us for the round! – to bring along something for the trading table.
And, of course, we are embracing the theme by WEARING PURPLE! 💜💜💜
Every dollar raised on the day will go directly to Pankind.
One thing our little club is exceptionally good at is supporting the people in our community and the charities that are impacting the lives of those around us. ❤️

Club Quirindi Tuesday Vets Report.
15th September 2026.
Overview
Weatherwise it was a great start for the Tuesday Vets on the Club Quirindi Golf Course to play the Front-9 Single Stableford Competition. The usual attendance on the course was good to see even though a few regulars were missing. As the game progressed the wind got quite blustery which didn’t seem to affect the playing of some good scoring. There was excellent comradery between the members whilst in the clubhouse after the game. Once again, we were playing for the Quirindi Pharmacy and Emporium donated voucher from the owner Mena.
Competition Winners
• After a spectacular game Ken Cronin produced a winner score of 22 points to secure the major prize. The runners-up and 1st in the Ball Credits went to Jim Clair with a fine challenge of 20 points in front of Therese Rawson. She was 2nd in the Ball Credits 18 points on a countback from Tim Davis also on 18 points.
Skills Events
• In the nearest the pins event conducted on the 4th and 8th par 3 holes. There wasn’t anyone lucky to reach the 4th green but more success on the 8th hole with Jim Clair taking the prize.
• The in-house raffle prize went to Bob Atchison after Ken had drawn a ticket from the barrel.
Other Events
• On the 16th of October the Central North Veterans Golf Association will hold the last of the Tamworth Golf Open for the season.
• With three months remaining until the yearly point score is finalised, Kathy Schroeder leads with 24 points, followed by Rod Deer on 19 points and John Norman on 18 points.

2026 Farmers Golf Day.

The 21st Farmers golf day tinged with a splash of yellow was played last Friday on the local golf course beautifully presented by our ‘crew of volunteers’ and the ‘family of greenkeepers’.

Our hosts Pursehouse Rural and AGRACOM dialled up the ‘weather gods’, had infrastructure which included breakfast, coffee and an assortment of drinks catered to the highest level.

The field swelled to capacity, some teams that haven’t changed its players for years, others sorted as a last-minute idea of participating in the 3 person Ambrose and enjoying the day, raising money for the local schools which was not lost on those who played. A new concept was the dressing in yellow to raise monies for the Jared Lyle Cancer for kids’ foundation.

Jared Doyle, with son Charlie Doyle and some help from Bernie Whale posted a nett 55.7 score to win the Jackets and bragging rights for the 2026 Pursehouse and Agracom golf day. They were able to hold off Chris Oxford, Brett and Tom Donoghue with nett 58.5 on a countback from the young guns Charlie Clift, Jack Craig and Ben Grant.

The Scratch winners that have gone back-to-back were Steve Masling, Guy and Knox Fisher recording a modest 66 off the stick. Runners up were Rob Cropper, Hugh Brownhill and Sam Guilford two suburbs back on 70!

Orica’s NTP’s 4th Julian Garness, 8th Charlie Doyle, 13th Mark Burgess and 17th Knox Fisher.

Our thanks to Orica who offered a large sum of money for all who played on Friday for a hole in one on the 4th hole. They have done their homework! 2019 is the last time that there has been a hole in one in competition golf at the Quirindi Golf Course.
Their generous prize is safe for another year.

The longest Drive for the ladies was won by Bec Goldrich. The longest drive markers were not put on the course, but special mention to Grant Baker (Mens) whose drives off the tee were straight and Grant was one of the rare few not to lose a ball throughout the day. Whereas other player’s were quick to cease looking after errant shots, with one commentator frequently quipping that “they are still making them you know”.

The raffle winners were 1st prize Tristan Richmond, 2nd prize Dan Cameron and 3rd prize Roy Eykamp.

The day was a great success, played in the right spirit. As one participant who was overheard expressing his anguish in not hitting his drive some 300 metres on the fly, and why does it look so easy for the Rory’s, Scotties, and Bryson’s on TV was answered with that none of them have grown a crop, feed livestock, delivered supplies, loaded trains, plumbed, built, etc. Laughter filled the air and more irrelevant discussion took over as the group headed down the fairway.

The Agracom & Pursehouse Rural charity golf day has been run and won for another year. For all who played, our thanks to all who made the day such a success.

Golf Report 12th September 2026
Golfers assembled for the Perkins / Doyle families Red Wine Classic trophy day last Saturday. Our thanks to Bern and Peter with their tradition of a beautiful selection of wines on offer for the winners.
The weather was perfect, so was the course.
Mike Stockdale and Ken Thornton played very good golf posting the winning score of 48pts. Ken with his new clubs and Mike with his uncanny ability to hole long distance putts were the catalyst to the winning score. Runner’s-up were Bobby Bradley and Tim Davis with 42pts.
The individual winner with 32pts went to Ken Lord. Vouchers went to Cameron Davies and Nathan Marquett 4BBB score of 40pts, Ken Thornton 35pts, Tim Davis 33pts, Mike Stockdale and Bobby Bradley 32pts.
Pinnacle Ag (farm beautifiers) NTP’s 4th Ken Lord, 8th Cameron Davies, 13th Ros Sadler and 17th Nathan Marquett.
Next Saturday’s golf is the Brian Black and Peter Musgraves trophy day. A single stableford is the event.
A reminder that the Men’ Foursomes Championships is the following Saturday hosted by Mark and Todd Burgess.
Let’s hope we get good fields for these upcoming events.

⛳️💗 THURSDAY LADIES GOLF – PAR, TORTOISES & A FEW HAPPY GOLFERS! 💗⛳️

Today saw Round 6 – and the FINAL ROUND – of the Belle Wratten Memorial Trophy 🏆🌸

And what did the golfing gods throw at the ladies for the final round?

😱 THE DREADED PAR! 😱
Now, as we all know, Par is a format that can be very much a love/hate relationship 😂 Some players absolutely thrive on it… while others would happily see it disappear from the golfing calendar altogether! 🤣

But with one of the biggest days on our golfing calendar happening TOMORROW – the Pursehouse Rural & Agracom Charity Golf Day – there was certainly no shortage of motivation to get the course looking its absolute best! 🌿⛳️

And WOW… what a job the crew have done! 👏👏👏
💪 The mower gang have absolutely excelled
🔵 The boys with the blue paint have been out outlining those fairways beautifully
🌱 The greens were smoothly mown and lightning sharp ⚡️
The course is looking a picture and ready for tomorrow’s big event! 👌

🏆 AND NOW TO TODAY’S RESULTS…
Kathy Richardson had an interesting start to the day after examining her card and discovering she was playing off a rather surprising new handicap after not having played a lot of rounds recently! 😳😂
Needless to say, Kathy was VERY happy with her new handicap… and she became even happier when she discovered that she had finished at the top of the leaderboard with a fantastic +1! 🥇👏
And how did Kathy help herself along the way?
🐦 A BIRDIE on the 15th! 🐦
Remember what we said about some players actually LIKING Par?! 🤣🤣🤣

Ros was particularly disappointed that her NTP on the 8th didn't come with a little extra + attached to it! 😂

🎟️ AND THEN THERE WAS THE RAFFLE…
Now, we have one particular lady member who has been patiently filling out her very valuable raffle tickets EVERY SINGLE WEEK this year… and despite her best efforts, the raffle gods have continually ignored her! 😩🎟️
Unfortunately for her, it still wasn't her day! 🤣
🎉 Congratulations to Ros Sadler, whose lucky ticket was pulled from the tin today! 🎟️👏

🏆 A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR TROPHY DONOR
This week we would like to give a very special shout-out to Phoebe Clift, our generous weekly trophy donor. 💐🏆
Phoebe is not only a valued member of the club (aren’t they ALL? ❤️⛳️), but also our hard-working volunteer Secretary, quietly keeping everything ticking along behind the scenes, firing out emails and making sure we all know what’s happening!

BUT… that wasn't all Phoebe got up to on the course today! 😂
As Phoebe was making her way towards the 12th green, she spotted a very distressed little friend… 🐢
A poor little tortoise was suffering from dehydration with the dam now dry. 😢
Enter Phoebe – Tortoise Rescue Officer! 🦸‍♀️🐢
Armed with a watering can she found nearby, Phoebe rescued the little fellow, gave him some much-needed assistance and then proceeded to carry him along for the remainder of her round! 😂👏
And after golf, our little friend was relocated safely into Borambil Creek, ready to begin his new life. 🌿🐢❤️
We’re not entirely sure whether this counts as a new golfing accessory ( or new golf club member), but we're pretty sure Phoebe has now set the bar for on-course animal rescue! 😂🐢⛳️

A last notable mention goes to Vicki Clair who won the Patrons Cup Matchplay final today, edging out Mozzie Brownhill. After 18 individual matches played it is a credit to Vicki to take home the silverware, which will be presented at the end of year Presentation Day awards.

Great golf, plenty of laughs, good company, a few stories to tell… and of course, the all-important afternoon tea! ☕️🍰
And Phoebe, that delicious lemon cake definitely deserves a special mention! 😋👏🍋
Because really… isn't afternoon tea one of the main reasons we play golf?! 😂😂
The ladies continue to enjoy the golf, the camaraderie and simply being out on our beautiful course together. ❤️⛳️
And thankfully, we don't have to wait long to do it all again!
