8 weeks ago I picked up a journal after seeing this post from Alex | Easy Journal Ideas on social media. I have NEVER been someone who uses a journal, I have tried and also just hit a writers block thinking “WTF do I write about?” This post by Alex | Easy Journal Ideas inspired me and I brought one initially with the plan to document my days and how I felt should I need to refer to it at future appointments, however what happened was even better. My daughter (5yr) also wanted one. So most nights after dinner she prompts me and says “mum can we do our journals?” We take 10-15 mins and I will just recap the day, she will either draw or write stuff. Tonight she wrote this and said “that’s because I am always going to be your baby mummy!” 🥰🥰 heart melt. Some days I have missed, I have run out of time and just carry on when I next get a chance. It’s not fancy, it’s not insta worthy but it’s time to PAUSE, unwind the day and get any thoughts out of the brain onto paper. If I had to do this alone it would never happen, but actually doing it with my daughter is super cute! Highly recommend, I’m enjoying it.

This video touches on just one of the barriers women can face when it comes to exercise.

And that’s before we even consider things like:

Lack of childcare.
Work demands.
Finances.
Not having a supportive partner, family or support network.
Pregnancy and postpartum recovery.
Health concerns or injury.
Mental load and exhaustion.
Not having access to suitable facilities.
Feeling safe exercising as a woman, particularly outside daylight hours.
Or simply struggling to find any time that actually feels like your own.

And often, it’s not just one of these things. It’s several of them happening at once.

So while I LOVE that we’re talking more and more about the importance of strength training for women, particularly as we get older, I think we need to be careful not to reduce the conversation to:

“You just need to find the time.”

Because we’re not all starting from the same place.

We don’t all have the same resources, support, confidence, environment or capacity.

Sometimes the answer isn’t expecting someone to try harder.

It’s understanding what’s making it hard in the first place and finding realistic ways to lower those barriers.

Maybe that’s starting at home.

Training for 10 minutes instead of 45.

Finding somewhere you actually feel comfortable.

Taking your kids with you.

Getting some professional support.

Or simply starting much smaller than you thought you “should.”

We don’t need to lower the importance of exercise. We need to lower the barriers to getting started.

Have you ever felt intimidated walking into a gym? What helped you feel more comfortable getting started or what do you think would help? 👇

I know my approach to health & fitness won’t be for everyone and I’m okay with that, because my own version of what health is has changed dramatically over the years.

Unlike others I’m not going to promise or sell you a completely different body in 6 weeks.

I’m not going to make you scared of food - sugar, carbs or processed food.

I’m not going to tell you a 15-minute workout isn’t worth doing and you MUST do 1hr.

And I’m never going to measure the success of your health journey purely by how different your body looks in an after photo.

I want the women I work with to get stronger, fitter and feel better in their bodies and actually find peace with their body after so many years of being at war with it.

I want them to eat more nutritious food AND be able to have an ice cream with their kids without feeling like they need to ‘burn’ it off.

I want them to learn when they need to push themselves and when life genuinely requires them to dial things down.

And yes, if fat loss is your goal, I’m absolutely happy to support you with that too but I just don’t believe getting smaller should come at the expense of your actual health, physical, mental and emotional health also matter.

Maybe that doesn’t make for the sexiest before and after marketing. 😂

But if six months from now you’re still exercising, eating well, feeling stronger, enjoying food and finding ways to look after yourself without it feeling like an obsession. Then that’s the kind of transformation I’m interested in.

If that’s your kind of health & fitness too, I hope you’ll like it around here.

A lot can change in only 5 weeks with the right support, accountability and a REALISTIC plan. Next round of Thrive in 6 is actually only 5 weeks to link up with school holidays. If you would like to kickstart your health habits and figure out how you CAN care for your health within the chaos of motherhood I would love to have you join.

Most women I work with don’t need another person telling them what they should be doing.

They need help figuring out how to make it work in the life they actually have.

Because your time, finances, health, environment, work demands, children’s needs, support network and mental load all influence your capacity to look after yourself.

And that’s exactly why I created Thrive in 6. (Or Thrive in 5 as the next round is only 5 weeks!😂)

Not to give you another “perfect” plan to follow.
But to help you work out:

✨ What actually matters for YOUR health
✨ What you realistically have capacity for
✨ How to make nutritious food choices without overcomplicating it
✨ How to fit movement and strength into your actual week
✨ What keeps getting in the way and how we can problem solve it
✨ How to keep going when life inevitably doesn’t go to plan

I’m not interested in helping you become really “healthy” only for 5 or 6 weeks. I want to help you build a way of looking after yourself that still works when the program is over, so you leave thinking “oh yes I can do this!”

If you’ve been thinking “I know what to do, I just can’t seem to DO it consistently…” this might be exactly the support you’ve been missing.

I start my next intake Monday 24th August, last few days to grab the Early Bird pricing - Comment THRIVE or send me a message if you’d like me to send you the details.

13 years in Australia today 🇦🇺🥹

I sometimes look at the life I’ve built here and think about the 25 year old version of me who packed up her life, moved across the world knowing no one and really had no idea whether it was all going to work out.

I’m so glad she did.

Because if the last 13 years have taught me anything, it’s that creating a life you want often requires being willing to feel uncomfortable first.

You don’t always need to feel ready.

You don’t always need to know exactly how it’s going to work out.

Sometimes you just need to take the first step and figure the rest out as you go.

Moving across the world is probably a little extreme 🤣 but you can decide it’s time to start looking after yourself again, because you deserve to feel good.

We never know how good life could be on the other side of discomfort and fear.

P.S. If taking better care of you is the change you’re ready to make, Thrive in 5 starts 24th August. DM me THRIVE and I’ll send you the details.
