The first organised Perth women's league kicked off in Western Australia in 1972 after 30 years of sporadic women's matches dotted across WA, from Rosabrook in the south west to Dorrien Gardens in the City of Perth. ⚽ NPLW WA – Full Time

What a performance from Subiaco, showing tremendous grit and determination to come from behind and claim all three points.

After falling 2–0 down early, Subiaco fought their way back into the contest. Liana Cook opened the scoring with a quality penalty before a pivotal moment at the other end saw Bri O'Dell produce a brilliant double save from a Football West Academy penalty to keep the game within reach.

From there, Subiaco took control.

Liana Cook led the charge with a superb hat trick, Laura Waltman added a brace, and Ella Mastrantonio capped off the comeback with a phenomenal goal as Subiaco stormed to a thrilling 6–4 victory.

A fantastic team effort and another example of the resilience, belief and character within this group.

One Team. One Standard. ALL IN.

Our U21s faced a tough challenge against a strong Football West Academy side, going down 8–0. While the result wasn't what they were after, the group will take valuable lessons from the match and look to respond next week. ⚽

HISTORY AT THE WORLD CUP: FIRST ALL-WOMAN REFEREE TRIO OF THE 2026 WORLD CUP IS HERE 👏

Tori Penso, Brooke Mayo and Kathryn Nesbitt became the first all-woman refereeing team to officiate a men's World Cup match, taking charge of Czechia vs South Africa.

Penso also became only the second woman to referee at a men's World Cup, continuing the path opened by Stéphanie Frappart at Qatar 2022.

The American official awarded a penalty to South Africa after a handball inside the box, helping Bafana Bafana secure a 1-1 draw.

Born in Stuart, Florida, Penso's journey in football began when she convinced her mother to let her play at the age of 10.

Since then, she was the only woman selected among the 117 referees chosen for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and has refereed the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup Final.

Now, alongside Mayo and Nesbitt, she has written another chapter of World Cup history.

Perth Azzurri's New Balance NPL WA Women's title defence remains on track after they moved five points clear of their nearest rivals today.

Azzurri, the only unbeaten team in the competition, beat Hyundai Football West Academy 3-0 at Dorrien Gardens. Kim McCartney, Daisy McAllister and Ella Lincoln got the goals.

Balcatta Etna were 1-0 winners at Fremantle City yesterday as they went above their opponents into second place. Jamie Duncanson's second-half effort decided the game, which was part of the two clubs' Sicilian Cup festivities.

Bottom club UWA Nedlands are just two points behind Sorrento FC after they beat their rivals 1-0 at Percy Doyle Reserve this afternoon, courtesy of a late own goal.

The other Round 11 fixture between Subiaco and Perth RedStar fell victim to the weather. Play was stopped in the 12th minute, and the game abandoned five minutes later, with the score at 0-0. The game will be replayed in full with the new date to be announced soon.
