Great few days spent down in Canberra for their round 3 championship
Very lucky with the weather. Cold, cold mornings but beautiful sunny days.
We arrived Thursday afternoon so had a full days practice Friday and Saturday ready for the race today. We had our fair share of Mini Rok problems we couldnβt get our heads around.
So we basically had to just cross our fingers and hope it just kept running!
Race day went like this. Qualifying then mini sprint (8 laps) then another qualifying follows by feature race 18 laps.
Qualified 5th
Sprint race started 5th finished 5th
Qualified 6th
Feature finished 6th
Points overall had him finishing 5th.
Beat his PBβs all weekend, great time with mates on and off the track. ππΌππΌ

Canberra Round 2
To say it was cold is definitely an understatement! Nearly every kid and parent were walking around with Hand warmers which truely were a godsend!
Saturday practice it definitely took a few sessions before the track and little drivers warmed up so it was VERY slippery out there. These kids are amazing with kart control. π
We struggled a bit to find full pace made changes with little difference. The tyres we had on were about 220 laps old though so that definitely didnβt work in our favour.
Sunday though with new boots on sure helped a lot.
Qualified 6th out of 12 Didnβt quite have enough laps for the brand new tyres to come to life. A Zero degree track sure didnβt help. (We were tempted to buy 50 packets of hand warmers to wrap around the tyres π)
Heat 1 started 6th finished 7th
Heat 2 started 6th finished 6th (PB done β
)
Heat 3 started 6th finished 6th (Another PB done β
)
Final Started 6th finished 5th (Another PB done β
)
First podium for this track! Been so close so many times. This was a first one for a while at Canberra where it is only Final counts. So super happy to finish 5th and get the reward.
Need to work on starts and get confident with that again.
Super fun weekend although it was freezing still had a great time racing and seeing his mates again. Congratulations to all the other drivers ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
Big thank you to Paul from and Chad from πͺπΌπͺπΌ and to sponsors:
Onto Orange next weekend!

Weekend at Lithgow. Great fun as always with some very good results!
Saturday practice was pretty consistent top 4 which made a nice change! Weather was typical wet dry wet.
Today race day Rookies were second to go. Wet qualifying which played in our favourβ¦.
Qualifying (we had to start at the back because we were naughty in practice on Saturday so that meant a start from the back). Did not matter though cause we qualified FIRST! By nearly half a second!!!!
Heat 1 started 1st π₯ finished 1st π₯
Heat 2 started 1st π₯ finished 2nd π₯ (last corner last lap overtake) π€¦πΌββοΈ
Heat 3 started 1st finished 4th. 80% of the karts changed to dry tyres and dry set up. (We were part of that 80%) Of course it started to rain when they left the out grid π€¦πΌββοΈπ€¦πΌββοΈ
3 of the drivers who stayed on wets blitzed everyone, although Oliver was the first one over the line on slicks. IF ONLY WE LEFT THE WETS ON!!!!
Final started 4th finished 5th! Another podium finish! A little bit of contact dropped him back to about 8th at the start so a great effort to work his way back to a podium finish!
A lot of positives today (needing it to rain at every race meet! Cause this kid is a weapon in wet!)
Super proud of him and how far he has come.
Big shout out to Paul from heβs always there when we need him and always helps Oliver with his nerves. Also Chad from for our awesome engine.
Also and Kimβs Groom Room a massive thank you for the ongoing support ππππ
Off to Orange in a few weeks for the South Pacific Titles ππΌπͺπΌπͺπΌ

Weekend of CITY OF SYDNEY at Sydney Illawarra Kart Club
1.7kms of race track with 32 turns. π±
3 heats, pre final and final meant for a lot of KMβs for these racers.
In typical Rookie style the weather was a big hit and miss and there was ALOT of frantic tyre changing going on in the out grid.
Qualified 9th out of 20
Heat 1 started 9th finished 7th (dry)
Heat 2 started 9th finished 4th (rained in the out grid but we opted to stay on slicks as it looked like it wouldnβt last)
Heat 3 started 5th finished 7th (dry)
Pre final today started 6th finished 9th (rained in out grid this was one of those frantic tyre changes!!! But dried halfway through π€¦πΌββοΈ)
Final started 9th finished 3rd!!! The rain was just starting in the out grid once again wets went on and it managed to stay wet for nearly the whole final) Oliverβs rain dance worked!! It only rained for the Rookies. ππΌππΌ Also second fastest time!!!
What an effort. To think he went from a broken wrist at this same event last year and never wanting to race there again to being on the podium this year is incredible on its own.
The Rookies had the best race with some really classy driving they all should be so proud of themselves. A HUGE shout out to Paul and Elite Driving Academy we are forever grateful for all your help and support. πππ
Thank you to ASAP Containers Kimβs Groom Room for all your support and sponsorship. We wouldnβt be here without them.

Round 1 Combined Districts Kart Club Lithgow.
What a weekend it was!
Saturday practice was pretty awful, could not get any speed out of the kart. The kart had some pretty big changes made (lightweight seat and floor pan due to being 3.5kgs over weight already) π© plus some set up changes.
Oliver was way off the pace no matter what he did or how much he tried. Running 4th, 3rd and second last each practice.
Last practice kart got new boots to scrub for todayβs race. He did 3 laps and not only went the fastest but beat his PB. ππΌππΌ Finaly a result!!!!
Today race day- (It was HOT π₯΅)
Qualifying 5th kart felt great. Only a couple of 10ths between the top 10. Beat his PB again ππ»ππ»
Heat 1 started 5th finished 4th (I made a bet with him at the begiining of the weekend if he got a 38.1 I would give him $100) He got a 38.0 π±π± He was more excited about getting $100 than getting 4th, fair call π He was 3rd fastest by .005!!!!
Heat 2 Started 5th finished 4th
Heat 3 Started 3rd finished 2nd! 3rd fastest again
Final (He was very nervous) Started 2nd finished 7th π It was such a shame. Start was great, stayed out of the first corner trouble but made some mistakes 2nd last and last lap with overtaking and got overtaken himself. But he went for the gaps but unfortunately didnβt pay off.
Being the youngest out there by quite a bit that is going to happen, he will get there. But a really great day today compared what we were going through yesterday.
Big thank you to Paul from Elite. Such a great support and extremely knowledgeable guy. Thank you to our sponsors as well amazing support Field Furnace Refractories Kimβs Groom Room ASAP Containers
Onto Orange in 2 weeks. ππ»ππ»ππ»
