Sitting here staring into the fire tonight, I find myself thinking about the next 9 months.

Not just about a race.

Not just about 100km.

About who I might become between now and then.

The goal is simple to say, but not simple to achieve:

Lose weight. Get stronger. Get fitter. Train for 100km.

Right now I’m 89kg. Not long ago I ran a 20:11 5km at around 80kg. Today I ran 22:02 carrying roughly 9kg more — and strangely, that gives me plenty of optimism.

The engine is still there.

My running power is still strong. My VO₂max hasn’t gone backwards. The ability hasn’t disappeared.

So what happens if I gradually take that extra weight off while continuing to build the engine?

What happens if I spend the next 9 months running more hills, building strength, getting comfortable with long days on tired legs and learning how to keep moving when things get uncomfortable?

That’s what I’m going to find out.

Because 100km isn’t won on race day.

Race day is where you collect the work.

The work starts now.

There will be early mornings. Long runs. Hills. Heavy legs. Missed sessions. Great sessions. Days where everything feels effortless and days where everything feels bloody hard.

There will be moments where I’ll question whether I’m actually capable of running 100km.

But that’s exactly why I’m doing it.

Nine months from now, I want to stand on that start line knowing I didn’t just hope I could do it.

I prepared to do it.

I want to be lighter, stronger, fitter and more resilient than I am today.

And when I’m 50, 70 or 90km into that race and everything starts hurting, I want nine months of evidence behind me telling me:

I’ve done hard things before.

I’ve kept going before.

This feeling isn’t new.

Keep moving.

So tonight I’m sitting here staring into the fire, wondering what the next 9 months will look like.

I don’t know exactly.

But I know where I’m going.

100km.

And I’m ready to find out what I’m capable of. 🔥🏃‍♂️

Racing at altitude? Your sweat losses are lying to you.

Dry air hides fluid loss, altitude makes you p*e more, and sodium loss varies 10x person to person. Guessing your electrolyte needs up high is a good way to blow up your race.

Swipe through the facts → then get your numbers tested.

Client Results - 59 year old male

15 weeks. 3.5kg down.

Not a gram of muscle lost. 🔬 And here’s the honest part — the diet wasn’t perfect. The drinks didn’t stop completely. Home-cooked meals were sometimes hard to control. There was no meal prep obsession or calorie tracking app. Just real life, happening around a solid training programme.

Could the fat have dropped faster with a tighter diet? Without question. But that’s not always on the table — and pretending otherwise doesn’t get results. So we worked with what we had:
↗️ Consistent resistance training 3–4x/week

↗️ Protein prioritised where possible

↗️ A deficit that didn’t require perfection

↗️ Showing up — even on the imperfect weeks 3.5kg gone.
Muscle completely preserved. Visceral fat down. Metabolic age improving.
That’s what happens when the programme fits your life — not the other way around.

Great to meet Michael from today to try and figure out what went wrong at . When asked how salty he thought his sweat was he was looking at the low end of the scale 😳 Now we need some real world sweat rate data to go with this new finding to see what the real sodium replacement strategy should be going forward. Still guessing your sodium losses?
Maybe it’s time to take the guess work@out and get a sweat test. Trusted in Sydney for 6 years.
