Good Afternoon Members and Fans of our awesome club.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting a Bastille Day Celebrations at Nesca Park. Our Vice President put up a detailed post this morning. I just wanted to mention how the clubs members banned together to welcome our guests and families to play some petanque, enjoy some French food and music. I really wanted to thank Allan Phillips for all his hard work to organise this wonderful event. To all the committee thankyou, love well we work together. It was a great advertisement for our club and sport. Thankyou to all the members who attended and flourished showing new people how to play. Massive thankyou to my brother who took some cool pictures. Keep an eye out for the Lord Mayor playing on Wednesdays !!.

Yesterday Newcastle Petanque Club had a fantastic Bastille Day celebration. Following a wonderful welcoming bilingual speech by our President Chris Boudan, Lord Mayor, Gavin Morris opened the day and threw the first boule of the day. The day was a great success with 50+ visitors joining in for a fun day.
A huge thank you goes to the club members who took groups of visitors, teaching them how to play Petanque.
The day ran perfectly with a fantastic group running the canteen throughout the day. Peter, Leanne, Jan S and Chris kept the food and drinks flowing all day. An enormous thanks to Trevor for spectacular presentation of the pistes and the whole club. Another thanks goes to Catherine Phillips for selling all the raffle ticket throughout the day.
Finally I would like to thank the club Committee, a day like this would not be possible without such a strong, enthusiastic and cooperative team.

It was a fantastic day at the Wollongong Petanque Club, with Newcastle players producing an outstanding performance across all divisions and once again proving we are one of the strongest clubs in the state.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly Division A, where Newcastle players dominated the draw and claimed the top two places!

👏 Kaito Ryan qualified for Division D and elected not to continue after qualifying.

A special congratulations to Ming-Rui Gu, Wei-Zhi Guo and Yu-Ting Huang, who were representing Newcastle for the first time after recently joining the club. What a remarkable debut, highlighted by Ming-Rui claiming the Division A State Championship!

Congratulations to every Newcastle player who travelled to compete. Whether you finished on the podium or not, you represented our club with pride, determination and outstanding sportsmanship.

A huge thank you to the umpires for ensuring the competition ran smoothly, to everyone at the Wollongong Pétanque Club for hosting another excellent State Championship, and to all of the volunteers whose hard work behind the scenes made the day possible. Events like these simply couldn't happen without you.

Tomorrow our Newcastle players head south to the Wollongong Petanque Club for the 2026 Pétanque NSW State Gender Singles Championship.

What an incredible day of pétanque! Our annual Singles Championships brought together a fantastic field of players, with everyone battling through the qualifying rounds before the knockout finals. The standard of play was outstanding, with plenty of close matches, great shot-making, and excellent sportsmanship on display throughout the day.

This Sunday it's time to crown our 2026 NPC Club Gender Singles Champions!

Defending champions Chris Boudan and Cathy Ayre will be looking to retain their titles, but there's no shortage of players eager to take them down.

Singles is the ultimate test. Every point is yours to win or lose, with no teammate to rely on. It all comes down to skill, strategy and composure.

A very wet day in Coogee yesterday for the Pétanque NSW Gender Doubles Championship, hosted by Boules Artistes Petanque Club.

Despite the challenging conditions, it was an outstanding day for Newcastle, with both the Men's and Women's A Grade finals being all-Newcastle affairs.

Several other Newcastle teams also reached the semi-finals across the championships, highlighting another strong performance for our club.

A special mention to Kai Ryan and Lynne Challinor, who both competed in their first State Championships. We hope it's the first of many.

It was also fantastic to see Jo Pratten make the trip to Sydney for her first competition outside Newcastle in many years.

A sincere thank you to everyone at Boules Artistes Petanque Club for hosting the championships and for their hard work throughout a day of relentless rain. Running an event in those conditions is no easy task, and it was greatly appreciated by all who attended.

A special thank you also goes to Rob F from Canberra, who took on the role of the lone non-playing umpire for the entire day. His commitment and professionalism ensured the championships ran smoothly despite the challenging weather.

Congratulations to everyone who represented the Newcastle Pétanque Club. We are incredibly proud of your efforts.
