Our Pre-Professional dancer, Isla Keenan, brings a bright and effortless quality to the stage in her contemporary solo.
Choreographed by Mr Jake Burden and recently performed at YGP Sydney, listen as Isla shares the process behind creating this work and finding the freedom, artistry and individuality within the movement.

What a weekend at YGP Sydney 2026! ⭐️

We are incredibly proud of our Nova dancers who took to the YGP stage over the weekend. From beautiful performances and personal achievements to callbacks, placings and scholarships, there was so much to celebrate.
Beyond the results, we are so proud of the dedication, artistry and professionalism each of our dancers brought to the stage, and the support they showed one another throughout the competition. 🤍

Congratulations to every dancer who competed and represented Nova so beautifully. A very special weekend and an incredible reflection of the work happening inside our studios!

Our annual Twinkle Toes Graduation is one of our favourite mornings at Nova, celebrating the students who are getting ready to take their next big step into Kindergarten.
It’s a chance to look back on their time in Twinkle Toes, celebrate their growth and confidence, and share a beautiful moment with the families who have been part of their journey. 🌟

Making headlines! 🗞️⭐️
What an exciting week for Lewis Nicholson, with his achievements celebrated across the Hunter through a feature in the Newcastle Herald and an appearance on NBN News.
It’s incredibly special to see Lewis’ dedication, talent and years of hard work recognised beyond the studio, and to see the wider community getting behind him as he prepares for an incredible next step in his dance journey.
This week also marks Lewis’ final week in Australia before he makes the move to Germany to continue his training at the prestigious John Cranko School in Stuttgart.
From everyone at Nova City Ballet, we wish Lewis all the very best as he begins this exciting new chapter. We have loved being part of his journey and can’t wait to see all that lies ahead for him. 🤍

🤍 Best of luck to our YGP Sydney solo performers!
This week, our Nova City Ballet dancers will take to the stage at Youth Grand Prix Sydney, representing our school with the dedication, artistry and passion they bring to every class.
Being part of this event is a wonderful opportunity to perform, learn and grow alongside talented dancers from across the country. We are so proud of the commitment and hard work each student has shown throughout their preparation.
We wish every dancer the very best for the week ahead. Dance with confidence, enjoy every moment and make memories that will last a lifetime. Your Nova family will be cheering you on every step of the way. 💙

🎬 Inside the Studio | Miss Emma

Back in Week 3, during our RAD examination period, we followed Miss Emma as she led a warm-up with our Intermediate Foundation students. 🤍

Examination preparation is about so much more than learning the syllabus. From the moment students arrive, every warm-up is carefully planned to prepare both the body and mind for a successful class or examination.
Miss Emma’s thoughtful approach helps dancers feel confident, focused and ready to perform at their best, while reinforcing the strong technical foundations and artistry that are at the heart of the RAD syllabus.
It’s this level of care and attention to detail that ensures our students are supported every step of the way throughout their examination journey.

🏆 Abermain Eisteddfod 2026 🏆
What an incredible weekend for Team Nova! 🤍
We are so proud of every dancer who took to the stage at the Abermain Eisteddfod. From our youngest performers to our senior students, each dancer represented Nova City Ballet with confidence, professionalism and heart. Watching our students support one another, celebrate each other’s successes and continue to grow as performers is what makes weekends like these so special.

✨Our 2026 Graduates! ✨
Lewis, Ella and Isla spoke with us as they prepare to begin the next chapter of their dance journeys overseas. 🤍
Together, they reflect on how they first fell in love with dance, the impact their training at Nova City Ballet has had on them, what they’re most excited for overseas, and what they’ll miss most about calling Nova home.

We are incredibly proud of everything these three dancers have achieved and can’t wait to watch them continue to grow as they take this exciting next step.

A little reminder for all our Nova dads!
Father’s Day Open Day is nearly here, and we can’t wait to welcome our fathers, grandfathers and father figures into the studio.
This is your chance to experience a class through your dancer’s eyes, join in the fun and make memories they’ll cherish for years to come. No dance experience is needed - just bring your biggest smile and be ready to have a go!
