Follow along the fun journey that is Speedway!!

Burns Racing kicked off in the 2021/22 Season, when the then 10 year old Ryan first took to the dirt and commenced his speedway career as a Junior New Star in his Mda#12 Hyundai Excel.

🏁πŸ”₯ We know the page has been a little quiet lately... but trust us, Burns Racing certainly hasn't! πŸ”₯🏁

After a very (very!) short off-season, the spanners are back in full swing in the shed as we prepare for what is shaping up to be another massive season on the track.

The racing calendar is quickly coming together, and it's filling up fast. There is no doubt we're in for another huge year of racing, road trips, great mates and unforgettable memories.

We're incredibly humbled and grateful to welcome back sponsors who have supported us since day one. Your backing of our team means the world to us. We're also super excited to introduce some new sponsors who have jumped on board this season to support Ryan in his racing journey.

And... πŸ‘€
Let's just say we may have a little secret up our sleeves for this season. Something that will make things a whole lot more interesting and a lot more fun!

For now, we'll keep you guessing... but all will be revealed in due course. 😏

Stay tuned. The countdown is on. πŸπŸ’™πŸ’›

Ryan managed to sneak 2nd in the club aggregate for Junior Top Stars. Big congrats to Violet for taking the top step & Brodie for 3rd place. πŸ‘
The club also showed again how much they have Ryan’s back, presenting him with the Club Encouragement Award, and talking of a bigger & better next season. πŸ’ͺ

Massive congratulations to Uncle Wade McCarthy for taking out the aggregate for Modifieds. Along with that he also got presented as the Best Presented Sedan, and the prestigious Deb Solomon Club Person of the Year. πŸ†

This 2025/26 season, Burns Racing covered approximately 16,000 kilometres and attended 21 race meetings across the country. Along with some fun in our tow vehicle, 4 blown tyres, overheating on the Nullarbor, a diff, and other small issues, what a rollercoaster it was! 🎒
The season began with a fresh-looking car, plenty of optimism, and some strong early performances that had us excited about what lay ahead. One of the biggest highlights came early when we received an invitation to compete at the NAPA Adelaide 500 Junior Sedan Invitational. What an incredible weekend that turned out to be. Mother Nature did everything she could to disrupt proceedings, but she was no match for a determined speedway community. Simply getting the opportunity to compete on such a stage was a huge achievement in itself, but to come away with a podium finish made it even more special. πŸ₯ˆ
Our trip to Western Australia for the Junior Sedan National Title in Esperance took us through every emotion imaginable. What began with excitement, anticipation, and a solid opening heat quickly turned to devastation when Ryan suffered a dramatic rollover during heat two. What happened next is something we will never forget. In the middle of the chaos emerged the very best of speedway. Crews, competitors, families and friends came from all directions to lend a hand. The support, dedication and determination shown by so many people was nothing short of incredible. Against all odds, Ryan was back on the track without missing a heat. We will forever be grateful to everyone who played a part in making that happen. πŸ’–
To come so close to qualifying for the A-Main, only to miss out by two positions, was heartbreaking. Yet throughout the entire ordeal, Ryan carried himself with maturity, resilience and composure well beyond his years. In moments like that, the results become secondary. It reminded us exactly why we invest so much of ourselves into this sport.
Following our adventure West, the remainder of the season continued to test us. After a good victory at the JSSS round in Portland, we returned home full of confidence. Unfortunately, while the car was flying around Timmis Speedway Mildura in front of a huge Easter crowd, the engine let go. What followed was a frustrating few months of troubleshooting, rebuilding, testing and starting again. At times the car wouldn't finish a meeting. 😟Occasionally it wouldn't even complete the first heat. We scratched our heads more times than we care to remember.
Thankfully, one thing our team has never lacked is determination. We are fortunate to have some incredibly stubborn people in our corner who refused to give up on the car, no matter how many challenges were thrown our way. As the season drew to a close, the pieces finally started to fall back into place. The car found its speed again, reliability returned, and it was incredibly rewarding to finish the year on a high note and take the top step on the podium. After what felt at times like the season from hell, it was the perfect way round out the season. 🏁
To some people, speedway might just look like driving around in circles. To us, it's so much more than that. It's about family, friendship, teamwork and community. It's about hard work, perseverance and learning how to get back up after being knocked over. It's about celebrating the highs, surviving the lows, and sharing every moment with the people who stand beside you along the way. And not to mention the laughs! So many laughs and good memories. 🀣😁
As we close the book on the 2025/26 season, we want to sincerely thank our sponsors, supporters, crew, officials, volunteers, fellow competitors, family and friends. Your support makes everything we do possible.
Here's to the challenges overcome, the memories made, and whatever adventures await us in 2026/27. πŸπŸ†β€οΈ

Now that the car is actually going again, Ryan is reluctant for the season to end… so when Blue Ribbon Raceway decided to put on one more meeting, Ryan threw his hand up so fast he nearly dislocated his elbow.

He rewarded the crew for their efforts getting him there by driving beautifully all meeting, and taking the chequered flag after a fun and fantastic battle in the final. 🏁

After the season the team has had, it was really nice to round it out with a problem free meeting where everyone ended the day with a smile on their face! πŸ˜€

With our season now officially over, it’s time to give the beast a rest, strip it down, get her nice and straight and pretty again before next season kicks off way too soon!!

Season recap to follow. πŸ‘

How good are Facebook memories….. 😍
This one popped up today, highlighting Ryan’s first season of racing.
Looking now at this tall, lanky 15 year old it’s easy to forget when he started his racing journey, a tiny 10 year old with no idea how to drive a car, when we brought the smallest gear we could and it was still too big! πŸ₯Ί
What a ride of learning, growth and development it has been so far. ❀️🏁

Update from last nights racing at Sunline Speedway for Round 5 of the Junior Sedan Southern Showdown …..
THE CAR FINISHED THE MEETING!!!! πŸŽ‰πŸ‘πŸ™ŒπŸπŸ€£

Ryan had a good solid nights racing, securing two third placings in the heat races, and crossed the final in 3rd place. There were high-fives all around with the crew when the car saw the chequered flag for the first time in a long time!! 🀣

It was lovely to catch up with friends and have a few laughs, sad to farewell those ageing out (but it’s not goodbye, it’s catch ya soon!) ❀️

Great job to Peter for jumping in the seat of the Modified and having some fun while showing the youngsters how it’s done!! 😜

Ryan is racing in the final round of the Junior Sedan Southern Showdown series today, with the aim of having fun, going fast and crossing the chequered flag at the end of the meeting! 🀞

Got our bad luck out of the way nice & early. Brains Trust has assessed the track. Now it’s time to go racing and have a freaking awesome day!! 🀞🀞
