Another very sad passing within the tractor pulling community. Bob Blackwell passed away on 26 August 2026. Bob was involved in the sport for more than two decades and was well known for his time pulling with his former tractor, “Rotary Hoe”
Sending our love and deepest condolences to Bob’s family and friends during this difficult time ❤️

The iconic “20 Years of Tractor Pulling” video, originally on VCR.
A massive thank you to Steve and Sonia Whitfield for sending this to us along with loads of information and goodies!
This video is great collection of interviews and old footage from 1996 and beyond, celebrating 20 years of tractor pulling in Australia.
Hosted by Craig Moore, the video features interviews with Trevor Bennet, Kelvin Jobling, Leo Parker and Gordon Betson, along with plenty of stories and insight into the early days of the sport.
The video touches on Bevan McKee and John Parker’s experiences travelling to America for an Allis Chalmers conference, where they both saw tractor pulling firsthand. Although their experiences are covered separately, the trip would spark ideas for both of them, and it would be the start of many years of Tractor Pulling.
We hear Bevan McKee’s story of how that experience led to him starting tractor pulling in Australia, building Australia’s first sled, Heartbreaker II, as well as his two tractors, Mighty Mouse and the D21, for the debut of Elmore Field Days Tractor Pull.
John Parker’s experiences are also discussed, including his thoughts after seeing tractor pulling in America, his involvement in building the original Quambatook sled, and the debut of the Quambatook Tractor Pull alongside the Apex Club.
That event would go on to become the longest-running tractor pull in Australia, celebrating 50 years in 2027.
We also hear the story of Dicky Cheriton’s unfortunate flywheel explosion, which resulted in the introduction of stricter safety measures and rules; Quambatook’s introduction of twilight events; Graeme Mann going deep into the sport and sharing his memories from that point in time; and that’s only half of it!
A fantastic piece of Australian tractor pulling history. Definitely a great watch!

With the recent passing of Malcolm Dinning, known widely as Mal, it’s only fitting we go back through the history books and share the history of Greta-Eta.
Mal built Greta-Eta in 1984, in his shed in the small town of Greta, Victoria, Australia.
Using a recycled Ford 351 Cleveland, C10 automatic and Ford 9 inch diff out of an old car sitting out the back, along with a set of drag slicks that were sent to Melbourne to have lugs vulcanised on, Greta-Eta was ready to make its debut at Colbinabbin in 1984.
In 2000, Greta-Eta upgraded to bigger tyres from a DitchWitch in order to stay competitive, and it worked! The very next season, Greta-Eta would come equal first with Gordon Yelland and his tractor, New Blood.
After a few more competitive seasons, Greta-Eta got crossed up and out of control during one of its runs at the Tooradin Tractor Pull. The result was a full 360 degree cartwheel, which subsequently led to the need and want for better safety throughout the sport. Ever since then, roll cages have been made mandatory.
While the turnover definitely would’ve made him pale in the moment, it didn’t dull Mal’s spirit. Greta-Eta was ready to go back on the track for the next run, but the incident did unfortunately cost him Ho**er of the year!
Mal sold Greta-Eta to Trevor Allen in 2009, and it was later changed to “Hulk”.
