Help me down
I promised I would stop injuring my body during training, but how to find the balance of being ALL IN, yet still having a sustainable practice that doesn’t break body and space every session?
Open World aspires to approximating ‘real life’ conditions when training, so we truly experience our personal edge.
It’s vital that we reconnect with what we are feeling, if we are to create relationships, businesses and social movements that actually feel human and humane.
It starts with learning the subtle language of the body, the sensations, the energies, the images, shapes, emotions…
Then learning to translate that personal, internal world into an expression that lands with others.
To bravely and honestly journey the abyss between humans.
And just as importantly, to cultivate a community who can bear witness to a human being finding themselves. To be a place where that expression can unfold and be held.
Loneliness can be felt even when just a few centimetres from another and we sit holding the insurmountable problem of reconnecting an entire world to each other in ways that allow our humanity to show up and heal the departure from who we really are as a species.
This work is happening through many bodies of work, and is one such movement. Based in Melbourne, running weekly sessions of honesty, expression and connection, I hope you can learn this forgotten language with us.
What would you do if a woman ran up to you with “help” written on her arm, before a man grabbed her by the hair and forcefully pulled her away?
