Ever feel like you’re working hard but going nowhere fast on the pitch? It’s your angle, not your effort.

When you’re upright, you’re basically fighting gravity, not using it. Your legs work overtime but you don’t get that explosive first step.

Fix that angle and everything changes: more force drives into the ground, more speed explodes out of every step.

This is what we work on inside every APX session🔥

Your start position is slowing you down.

Most young players stand too tall out of the blocks — rushed, upright, nothing loaded behind that first step. APX athletes drop into a low, resisted position first, so every ounce of force drives forward instead of leaking upward.

That’s the difference between a slow start and an explosive one.

Getting faster isn’t simply about trying to run faster. ⚡️

For a footballer, speed can come down to how they move. Forward lean, arm drive, foot placement, how they apply force into the ground can all influence how effectively they accelerate and build speed.

That’s why APX looks beyond how fast a footballer runs. Through the Movement Assessment, we look at how you move, what may be limiting your sprint, and what could be further developed.

Because knowing what to work on is the first step toward training with purpose. 💪🏻⚽️

The hidden link between bounds and your speed.

That exaggerated step in your bounds drill isn’t just for show — it’s teaching your body to hit the ground with a high knee and drive faster into the next step.

Carry that same shape into your sprint and your first step gets quicker, automatically.

The hardest drill doesn’t always guarantee the best results. 👀⚽️

A drill should be chosen based on what the footballer actually needs to develop, whether that’s strength, force production, control, or a quality that can transfer to the pitch.

That’s why at APX, we start with the athlete:

Understand → identify what needs attention → train with purpose.

Because the goal isn’t to make training harder. It’s to make every drill count. ⚡️

Send this to someone who believes every drill should have a reason behind it. 🔥

Standing tall is killing your first step.

If you’re upright when you need to change direction, you’ve already lost the fraction of a second that beats a defender. Getting low and dropping your hips loads your body to push out explosively — that’s what actually creates separation.

Most players never fix this because it looks like a small detail. It isn’t.

⚡ Speed
💪 Strength
🔥 Explosiveness
🔄 Change of direction
🎯 Something else?

Every footballer is different, and so is every development journey.

Progress starts with knowing what you want to improve. Share yours below! 👇

Your kid’s knee drive is leaking power.

Most young athletes lose speed before they ever hit top-end sprint — it happens right at the hip. Without enough hip depth, the knee can’t drive high enough to load the next stride properly, so force leaks out instead of transferring forward.

Fix the depth, and the whole chain — hip, knee, arm — starts working together instead of against itself.

A young footballer may know what they want to improve without knowing where to start

They might want to get faster, become more explosive or move better on the pitch.

But those goals can look different from one footballer to another.

At APX, we start by looking at how you move. 🔥

Through the Movement Assessment, we can get a clearer picture of your movement and identify the areas that may need more attention.

Not sure where to start? Comment “ASSESS” — we got you! 💪🏻

The missing piece in your sprint drive.

It’s not the push-off. Most young players focus everything on driving forward — but APX trains the full extension behind you, hip through ankle, before the leg resets. That back half of the stride is where the real speed gets built.

Miss it, and you’re only training half the motion.
