✨ That’s a wrap for the Northern Territory! ❤️🧡

After two incredible trips here, we can officially say we’ve explored just about every corner of the Northern Territory.

Last year, we discovered the Top End – Darwin and its surrounds, Kakadu, Litchfield, Arnhem Land and so many other unforgettable places.

This year, we entered from WA, travelled to Katherine, then headed south towards SA, exploring everything in between. From the crystal-clear springs of Mataranka to the quirky charm of Daly Waters, the giant granite boulders of Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles), the incredible East and West MacDonnell Ranges, the rugged Mereenie Loop, the breathtaking Kings Canyon, and the icons of Uluṟu and Kata Tjuṯa – it’s been one unforgettable adventure.

The Northern Territory has surprised us at every turn. It’s a place of endless open roads, spectacular landscapes, rich culture, unforgettable sunsets, star-filled nights and some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Every destination has offered something unique, and every kilometre has reminded us why we love travelling this amazing country.

We’ve hiked through stunning gorges, cooled off in natural springs, tackled dusty roads, watched countless sunsets, sat around campfires and made memories we’ll treasure forever.

Thank you, Northern Territory, for another incredible adventure. You’ve well and truly stolen a piece of our hearts, and we know we’ll be back one day.

Now it’s time to cross into South Australia and see what the next chapter of our Australian adventure has in store. 🚐💨

Some places don’t need much introduction…

📍 Standley Chasm & Simpsons Gap, West MacDonnell Ranges, NT

These two iconic stops are only a short drive from Alice Springs, but each offers something completely different.

🏜️ Standley Chasm is a spectacular natural gorge. If you time your visit around the middle of the day, the sunlight lights up the chasm in the most incredible way. The walk is easy, peaceful, and every step builds the anticipation until you reach the towering walls at the end.

🦘 Simpsons Gap is equally beautiful, with its striking cliffs, permanent waterhole, and peaceful atmosphere.

We loved wandering through the gap, taking in the scenery and simply enjoying the quiet.

Every stop in the West MacDonnell Ranges has its own unique beauty, and Standley Chasm and Simpsons Gap are definitely two places that deserve a spot on your Northern Territory itinerary.

📍 Ormiston Gorge
West MacDonnell Ranges NT

Tucked away in the spectacular West MacDonnell Ranges, this place has a little bit of everything. Crystal-clear water, red cliffs, an incredible gorge, and one of the best lookouts in the region.

The walk up to the Ormiston Gorge Lookout requires some fitness level, but it’s worth every step. Standing at the top, you’re rewarded with breathtaking views across the gorge and the rugged ranges stretching as far as the eye can see. It reminds you just how wild and beautiful Australia really is.

You can wander down to the permanent waterhole that is stunning, reflecting the rich red cliffs and landscape that has been shaped over the years.

📍Kata Tjuṯa (The Olgas)

A Place That Leaves You Speechless ❤️

Some places are beautiful… and then there are places that make you stop, take a deep breath, and simply soak it all in. Kata Tjuṯa is one of those places.

While Uluru (Ayres Rock) often steals the spotlight, don’t make the mistake of skipping Kata Tjuṯa. These 36 ancient domes rise dramatically from the desert, and standing amongst them gives you a true appreciation of just how incredible Australia’s Red Centre really is.

We tackled the Walpa Gorge Walk, and the more challenging Valley Of The Winds walk.
Walking between those towering red rock walls was something we’ll never forget. The colours constantly changed as the sun moved across the sky, every turn revealed another breathtaking view. The wildflowers were also a beautiful surprise 🌸

Kata Tjuṯa (The Olga’s) is just a stunning landscape and worth the visit. We are surprised we hadn’t heard more about it before we went there.

📍 🏞️ Kings Canyon – Rim Walk

This place was pure magic. ❤️

The climb to the top definitely gets the heart pumping (and the legs questioning every life choice 😂), but once you’re up there… wow.

Towering sandstone cliffs, endless views, hidden waterholes, and the incredible Garden of Eden make every single step worth it. It’s one of those places that makes you stop, take a breath, and appreciate just how spectacular Australia really is.

Photos simply don’t do Kings Canyon justice. The scale, the colours, and the feeling of standing on top of those ancient cliffs is something you’ll never forget.

If you’re exploring the Red Centre, do yourself a favour and add the Rim Walk to your itinerary. Just take plenty of water, wear good shoes, and start early—you’ll thank yourself later!
