A few Sundays ago, I unexpectedly found myself with 3โ€“4 hours completely to myself.

If you know me, you'll know just how rare that is.

My first thought wasn't, "How nice." It was, "What can I achieve?"

My mind immediately went to the never-ending mental to-do list and all the things I could finally tick off.

Achievement has served me well. It's one of my strengths.

But it can also be my downfall.

I'm not naturally good at slowing down. My nervous system has been trying to tell me that for a while.

In that moment, I caught myself. Instead of filling every minute with productivity, I leaned into the discomfort of doing the opposite.

So I took myself out for a coffee, wandered along the bay, and finished with a 60-minute massage.

No agenda.
No productivity.
Just presence.

And it was complete bliss.

It reminded me that sometimes the most productive thing we can do is give ourselves permission to pause.

So I'm curious...

What's your autopilot?

And what feels uncomfortable to do differentlyโ€”even though you know it's exactly what you need?

I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Leadership can come with the pressure to always be available, helpful, and ready to say yes. But without clear boundaries, time and energy can quickly become stretched, making it harder to focus on what truly matters.

Healthy boundaries help create clearer expectations, protect your capacity, and make space for more intentional leadership. They can strengthen relationships because people understand what you can commit to and where your focus needs to be.

๐ŸคIf youโ€™re looking to lead with greater clarity while protecting your energy and focus.

This week's emotion is Courageous.

Being courageous doesnโ€™t always mean doing something huge. Sometimes, itโ€™s having a vulnerable conversation, taking a risk, speaking up, or simply doing something that feels outside your comfort zone.

Courage often comes with a physical reaction too. A tight chest, a nervous stomach, or that feeling of resistance can all show up when taking a step into the unknown. The more those moments are embraced, the more familiar they can become, turning something that once felt scary into something that feels possible. โœจ

Every team is made up of individuals with different personalities, communication styles, and ways of responding to feedback and leadership. What works for one person may not work for another.

Leadership coaching can help you understand different DISC profiles and develop the flexibility to adapt your management style. When leaders understand their people, they can communicate more effectively, strengthen team relationships, and create a more positive and engaged team environment.

๐Ÿค If you're ready to become a more confident, adaptable, and impactful leader, let's chat.

Every person brings different experiences, perspectives, strengths, and ways of communicating. The leadership approach that motivates one person may not have the same impact on another.

That is why self awareness, curiosity, and adaptability are such important parts of effective leadership. Taking the time to understand people and recognise what they need allows leaders to respond with greater intention rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

When leaders adapt their approach and choose a mindset that focuses on bringing out the best in others, they create stronger relationships, build trust, and empower people to grow with confidence.

๐Ÿค If you're ready to lead with more clarity, connection, and purpose, let's chat.

This week's emotion is Insulted.

Feeling insulted can catch us off guard. It can sting, feel uncomfortable, and sometimes bring up a defensive reaction before thereโ€™s even time to understand whatโ€™s really happening.

Often, taking a moment to pause and look beyond the initial reaction can help. Understanding the intention or the reason behind someoneโ€™s actions may reveal a perspective that wasnโ€™t immediately obvious and create space for a more thoughtful response.

Emotions can be powerful signals, but they don't always tell the whole story. Sometimes, curiosity and a little more context can help soften the impact and change the way a situation is experienced. โœจ

Even experienced leaders can find high pressure conversations challenging. Whether it's an interview, a difficult discussion, or an important decision, understanding how you communicate and how others receive your message can make all the difference.

Leadership coaching helps build the confidence and awareness needed to communicate with greater clarity, adaptability, and intention. When leaders understand their own communication style, they create stronger relationships, make better decisions, and lead more effectively.

๐Ÿค If you're ready to strengthen your leadership communication and lead with greater confidence, let's chat.

To me, vulnerability isn't a weakness. It's one of the strongest qualities a leader can demonstrate.

โœ… It's the difference between a fixed mindset (I know everything I need to know) and a growth mindset (I'm constantly learning from others).

โœ… It's the difference between leading people who choose to follow you and leading people who act from fear.

โœ… It's the difference between empowering and inspiring others, rather than enforcing and controlling.

During a coaching call recently, a senior leader's sponsor highlighted vulnerability as one of the key differentiators in taking their leadership to the next level. It sparked a great conversation.

So, what does vulnerability actually look like in practice?

โžก๏ธ Admitting when you don't have all the answers.
โžก๏ธ Asking for feedbackโ€”and genuinely listening to it.
โžก๏ธ Owning your mistakes instead of looking for someone else to blame.
โžก๏ธ Being open about challenges without pretending everything is under control.
โžก๏ธ Inviting different perspectives, even when they challenge your own thinking.
โžก๏ธ Saying genuinely "I was wrong" or "I need your help"

None of these diminish your credibility.

In fact, they build trust.

People don't expect leaders to be perfect. They expect them to be authentic, self-aware, and willing to learn.

That's what vulnerability creates.

This week's emotion is Helpful.

Thereโ€™s something energising about knowing that a conversation, idea, or small act has made a positive difference to someone else. Feeling helpful can create a sense of purpose and connection, reminding us that even small moments can have a meaningful impact.

Being helpful isnโ€™t always about having all the answers. Sometimes, itโ€™s about being present, paying attention, noticing what someone needs, and asking the right questions. Taking time to understand what was genuinely helpful can also create valuable insights into how we support others more intentionally. โœจ

When I started what I call my first proper job, we were always encouraged to prioritise meeting clients face to face. It was seen as a core part of our development, and we were specifically trained on how to plan, lead, and get the most from those meetings.

Since then, I've consistently seen the value of being in the room together.

COVID understandably changed the way we worked, and we've all proved that great work can be delivered remotely. Virtual meetings have their place and offer flexibility that shouldn't be underestimated.

But there is still something you simply can't replicate when you're sitting across the table from someone. The conversations are different. The connection is stronger. You notice the small things that often get missed through a screen.

With this client, we've found a great balance between virtual and face-to-face engagement. Sometimes it feels like the pendulum swings too far in one directionโ€”either 100% virtual or 100% presenteeism. I believe the sweet spot is somewhere in the middle, where you can enjoy the benefits of both.

If you have the opportunity to meet someone in person, take it. Some of the best conversations, ideas, and relationships still happen face to face.
