One of the biggest traps people fall into is waiting until they're "fit enough" before they start.

Fit enough to join a gym.

Fit enough to work with a coach.

Fit enough to try something challenging.

Fit enough to get back into exercise.

The problem is that fitness doesn't magically appear one day.

It comes from taking that first step before you feel ready.

Most people don't need more confidence.

They need evidence.

Evidence that they can show up.
Evidence that they can improve.
Evidence that they're more capable than they think.

And that evidence only comes from action.

If you've been waiting for the perfect time to start, this is your reminder that it probably isn't coming.

Start now.

New Semi-Private Strength Classes for Women 40+ đź’Ş

> Monday's 6am
> Max of 4 per class
> Private gym in Yallambie 3085
> Starts 15th June.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is how many women stop prioritising their own strength and health once life gets busy.

Work.
Kids.
Stress.
Looking after everyone else first.

And eventually a lot of women start feeling:

weaker
more tired
less confident physically
less comfortable in their own body

That’s exactly why I’m introducing these new semi-private strength sessions.

Small group training focused on:
âś” Strength
âś” Confidence
âś” Movement
âś” Energy
âś” Feeling capable again

No intimidating gym environment.
No ego.
No pressure to “keep up”.

Just practical strength training in a supportive environment designed specifically for women over 40.

These sessions are best suited to women who:
âś” Are local to the area
âś” Want to learn how to strength train properly
âś” Are prepared to commit consistently to training
âś” Want to feel stronger and more capable long term

If you’ve been wanting to get stronger, feel better and start prioritising yourself again, send me a message for more information or to secure a spot.

Limited places available.

Balance matters more than most people realise.

Not just for sport or hiking — but for everyday life as well.

As we get older, one of the biggest things people lose isn’t just strength.

It’s confidence in movement.

Uneven ground feels less comfortable.
Quick changes in direction feel harder.
Stability starts to decrease.

That’s why good training shouldn’t just focus on strength and cardio.

Stability, coordination and control matter too.

Simple things like:

Single-leg exercises
Step-downs
Split squats
Stability work

can make a huge difference to how capable and confident you feel.

Strong is good. Strong and stable is even better.

If you feel like your energy drops off quickly, or things start to feel harder the longer you’re active, it’s often not just fitness — it’s muscular endurance.

That’s something we work on in our strength and conditioning programs at Henley Fitness.

Simple, structured sessions focused on building strength, improving movement, and helping you stay capable.

No complicated programs — just consistent, effective training.

If you’re looking to get stronger and feel better in day-to-day life, feel free to reach out.

Strength Tip for Men Over 40: Strength becomes more important than cardio as you get older.

A lot of men I talk to feel like they’re getting “less fit” in their 40s and 50s, so their first instinct is to do more cardio — more walking, more running, more cycling.

Cardio is great for your heart and general health, and it’s definitely important. But one of the biggest physical changes that happens as we get older is that we gradually lose muscle mass and strength if we don’t train for it.

Less muscle and less strength affects a lot of things:

everyday strength
joint health
balance
posture
how your back and knees feel
how easy it is to do things like hiking, carrying things, or working around the house

This is why strength training becomes so important after 40.

You don’t need to train every day, and you don’t need complicated programs. But you do need to regularly train the basic movement patterns:

Squat (sit down and stand up)
Hinge (deadlifts / picking things up)
Push (push-ups / pressing)
Pull (rows)
Carry (farmer carries / carrying bags, packs, etc.)

If you train those movements consistently 2–3 times per week, you can maintain and even build strength well into your 40s, 50s and beyond.

The goal for most of the guys I train isn’t to become massive or look like a bodybuilder. That's not what I'm about.

It’s to stay strong, capable, and able to do the things they enjoy for a long time.
