This weekend we were racing at the Whitsunday kart track and after quick trip to the Gold Coast and back Friday night it was a short preparation, turning up Saturday morning and just go racing!
Practice showed reasonably pace but with all the drama we have had lately with the engine we decided to swap it out before races.
Heat 1:
Started 9th had a DNF after dropping a wheel and throwing the chain off.
Heat 2:
Started 1st finished 6th.
Heat 3:
Started 6th finished 6th.
Final:
Started 6th finishing in 6th.
Still struggling to get the kart to improve through the day, so wasn’t the best outing having good pace in practice but not able to improve on it during the day . Will keep trying different things and try to improve our outcomes.

This weekend was back at Mackay and District kart club for round 5 and with a good field of 12 karts it was going to be some great racing with strong field of competitors.
Practice session was ok , not great, but nothing to hint at what was to come.🧐
Heat 1 : started in 8th Finished 8th.
Started ok but seemed to be slowing from half race. Came in and said the engine was not right in the top end.?😤
Heat 2: started in 6th Finished in 9th.
Again a ok start to make up a few places and then the rest of the race had nothing to fight with on the straights.
Heat 3: Started 9th Finished 9th.
Had a good start again making places, and again falling backwards as continued to lose pace on the straights.
Finals: Started 9th DNF.
With a strong start on the first lap was looking up until he came to a stop on second lap!😢
This was not the weekend we wanted, we hoped for a strong showing and progress after getting the engine rebuilt because of last round engine issues, to have gremlins come back to knock us out of any contention was disappointing to say the least. We tried hard to fix the issues and at least be competitive. We would like to thank Townsville Kart club for their advice and a huge shoutout to Blair and Cooper from C-Tak racing for offering us there spare engine to use and at least have a chance in the final, but even this was to no avail as we threw a chain and any chance of fighting , it just wasn’t meant to be! ☹️
Was super proud of Connor for not giving up and going out every race with a fighting attitude and even coming away at the end of the final happy with his pace before throwing the chain. Unfortunately this will affect our next race at Mareeba, while we rebuild and regroup and come back next round stronger. 👍
Big thanks to all of the competitors in our Karting community for their amazing support and advice, it’s all greatly appreciated. 🤗

This weekend was the Great Barrier Reef titles at the Whitsunday Kart club.
Was looking forward to a good weekend with the weather holding out and a good last round here showing some nice improvements, or so we thought!
Rolled in Friday night with just enough time for a couple practice sessions , times were down half a second but nothing too crazy.🤨
Saturday morning practice.
7th out of 11 , slower than last night???🤔🤔
Qualifying.
10th this time, Connor came in as his warm up laps were his quickest. Said it’s not right. Stripped down carby and cleaned it, Rechecked tune. 🧐
Heat 1. - DNS!
Went out and struggled to even grid up, came back in, couldn’t get over 12 thousand! Pulled reed block and checked reeds and replaced spark plug !engine Ran on trolley ok.😫
Heat 2. - DNF!
Went out again and no good, got a start but came back in on lap 2. Couldn’t get over 9 thousand now,
Pulled coil off and replaced it, starting to run out of ideas! And with short turnarounds time!🤯
Heat 3.
Finally got a start even if it from p10. Was able to get up into 7th place. Finally a race finish.🙂
Heat 4.
Started 8th finished 7th. Start trying to chase setup.
Final.
Started 7th finish 7th.
Raced ok but were behind the ball with all the issues throughout the day.
Still a lot learnt off and on track even with the dramas of the day, big shout out to Brian from Townsville kart club for letting me chew his ear all day for advice and the parts, also to all other competitors and teams for any advice and support that everyone offered me and Connor throughout the day it was very much appreciated!
Grateful to be part of a such an awesome local karting community! 😎👍

This weekend was round 4 of the Mackay kart club sprint, and with no time for any practice throughout the week, we just had to roll in Saturday morning and go racing!
Sat one and only practice session went good with some reasonable times putting us around 5th quickest on track.
Heat 1: Started in 6th place for the random draw and with a quick start and a spin for a competitor out front in the first corner the chaos ensued but Connor popped out the other side in first! ( to my surprise 🤩and his) He then was able to keep it going and hold out for a super close finish with Chevy to win by a nose.
Heat 2: Started in 4th for the reverse draw. Bit of a slow start and dropped back a couple places but was able to battle back to 5th even though he was struggling with the kart . ( my fault as I had a issue with the pressure gauge and over pressured his tyres) 🤫
Heat 3: Started in 2nd , got a reasonable start but didn’t quite have the pace to stay with the front runners and came home in 5th again.
Final : Started in 5th and had a clean start and with everyone reasonably close in times had a clean race to finish in 5th overall.
Didn’t quite have the pace to stay in the hunt for a podium this weekend but will keep trying.
Shout out to Erin for dropping off some Elite Racing Team merchandise for Connor and I to wear. 😎👍

Headed to Whitsunday Motorsport club last weekend for the 2026 NQ Series.
This is Connors first larger series race with larger ( 21 juniors nominated ) and more competitive fields and we were hoping to try and finish somewhere in the top ten as a goal for the weekend.
Arrived Friday afternoon to set up and got a great position on the starting grid. ( Thanks Zac & Kobe ) Got some practice sessions in and some good times,
Saturday practice showed reasonable pace and Connor was able to qualified in 9th.
Heat 1: Started in 9th - Finished in 10th.
Heat 2: Started in 9th - Finished in 8th.
Heat 3: Started in 9th - Finished in 9th.
Final : Started 9th - Finished in 9th.
Connor had consistent pace all weekend and improved his times all day , having some great racing with all the competitions around him. The quality of racing was outstanding all day with the field being so close, at one stage we had 14 juniors all within 1 second!
The final was impressive to watch with Connor starting 9th but getting his kart run over and knocked back to 14th, he put his head down and drove his backside off to to push through the field and manage to get back in to 9th place with enough pace to have finished higher but ran out of laps to get there.
Was a great weekend with Connor building some good confidence and a new PB for him at this track, can’t wait for the other two rounds.
Thanks to Luke and Brian Flynn ( Townsville Kart Club ) for helping straighten out the kart and help with my consistent bugging you as well as Blair ( C-TAk Racing ) for your advice on setup, was greatly appreciated !

Does anyone in our karting community happen to have a spare set of wet rims to fit a junior kart that we could borrow, hire or buy for this weekends race in case the weather stays wet?
Thanks in advance

What a weekend! Had the Mackay kart club round 3 on and we only just got the kart in the trailer 9pm fri night. So knew we were going in for a bit of a struggle with Connor under the weather and not 100%. Saturday morning practice wasn’t great as the kart looked very loose and he seemed to struggle everywhere.
Heat 1, started in second and was unfortunate to be pushed off track in the first corner and checked out Brenton’s and Darbs mowing efforts down to Haber, back to last. Pushed on to finish 8th.
Heat 2, started in 8th but got a good start and was able move forward but was still struggling with the kart and braking still finishing in 5th.
Heat 3, started in 7th, had some good batting with Cruz and Jaxon but you could see he was struggling with the kart and loosing time but still managed to finish 6th.
Final started in 6th, got a reasonable start and was looking ok, continued to battle with the boys but made a mistake in Haber on lap 5 and spun. Only just getting back on track before the lead karts and continued the best he could before running out of energy and getting caught . So did the right thing to keep out of the way of Chevy, Jax and Cooper battling for the podium positions! Congratulations to them on great racing boys!👏
So not the weekend we were hoping for but he tried hard all weekend, we will put it in the book to learn from and will let Connor rest up and recover for next weekends race at Whitsunday kart track for the NQ series. See you there!

After bit of a break from racing due to a dropped round at home , we went up to Whitsunday kart club for there first round last weekend. Headed up Friday night to try and get in a couple laps and some track time going anti clockwise.
Saturday morning started out with some good weather for the practice session and a good field of 11 competitors with our times putting us in the middle of the pack, even though there was fairly high chance of showers sometime throughout the day.
Heat 1, started in 9th and gained a couple spots to finish 7th.
Heat 2, started in 2nd because of reverse grid and with that the rain come in and everyone going to wets! Except for us , Mills and Patroni who stayed on slicks as we didn’t have any. 🤗 So we told Connor he’s not going to keep up with the others on wets so go out push as hard as you can and do your best to keep it on track and have some fun, and even though we weren’t in the race for the win, the three boys out the back had more fun , excitement and laughter to watch and they all came home to finish. Finished in 9th.
Heat 3, started in 9th with everyone back on slicks but still a slightly wet track there was plenty of action to be had and on the second lap one drivers excursion through the large standing water sent over half the field off through the weeds. Connor luckily was able to avoid the spinning karts and made it out the other side in third place and pushed hard to gain another spot to finish in 2nd!
Finals saw him start in 6th and with dry track, the racing through out the field was very competitive with all the racers having some great battles. Connor made a place early on and held it to the finish line to come home in 5th.
Was a good weekend overall with some improvement coming all weekend even with the weather throwing in some very wet races. The improvement is coming and with a few more larger races in Queensland this year that we will hopefully be able to attend we should hopefully see that improvement continue and compete at a higher level throughout this year.
