🌟Hello everyone🌟
After a bit of time off of social media I wanted to jump back in with this quote from my amazing trainer Cherry Farrow which ever rings so true in all situations of life, yet, most of us are not consciously aware of this.
The following example might be very obvious to some but I want to lay the foundation with it, so everyone gets the gist of it and then you can take it as deep as you like and apply it to your life wherever it serves you:
How often have you woken up to the sun shining and thought "what a beautiful day"? and by all means, that is a great meaning to give to something, it just does not necessarily mean it's the truth. There might be a farmer out there going through a drought to whom another sunny day is just a nightmare, to whom a rainy day would be beautiful instead, which to others might be dreadful because they experience too much of it.
And so we go ahead and give meaning to so many things. You might have given a meaning to someone not calling you, or not returning your call. For not answering a text in a certain time frame. Maybe a certain way your children behave means to you that you have excelled or maybe failed at parenting.
After returning from my trip overseas I had put on a few kilos, have you had that before? It does not have to be in conjunction with a holiday. What were your thoughts then? Did it mean failure, laziness? Maybe jealous of others? I could have gone ahead and felt horrible about myself that I was slack and undisciplined and should have known better, that I will regret eating all these baked goods and my dad's home made ice cream. But no, I gave myself some grace because, golly gosh, did we have a great and yummy time, I enjoyed ever single bit and bite of it and I know exactly what to do to get rid of it again anyway. Once I'm home and have given myself some adjustment time. To me, these kilos meant we had a great time and now I will have a great time nurturing my body with healthy food and lifestyle choices again which can be equally as enjoyable.
We as humans have this incredible gift of thought and giving things a meaning, whether it's the weather, a look someone gave you or your wants and desires. Whatever it is, if it is not a meaning that serves you in a positive way, change it. The first step is to recognize you're doing it and always, always be kind to yourself. You're always doing your best with the knowledge you have at the time, at any given moment.
Let me know in the comments what you have got to share around this topic.
Much love,
Maren
