Northern Stars Football Academy

Our U9, U10, U11 and U12 teams travelled to the Sunshine Coast on the weekend to compete in the Challenge Cup, taking on SCCSA Representative teams from the North, South, East and West regions.

While results are always nice, our focus has always been on player development, and this tournament provided another fantastic opportunity for our players to experience football in the format they'll be playing as they continue their journey.

Our U10s, U11s and U12s competed in 11-a-side matches on full-size pitches with full-size goals and the offside rule, while our U9s stepped up to 9-a-side on a much larger field. Experiences like these are invaluable in preparing our players for the transition into full-size football.

Our U11s had a fantastic tournament, finishing as Challenge Cup Runners-Up. 👏🥈

Our U10s and U12s both battled hard throughout the day and were rewarded with well-deserved wins against quality opposition, while our U9s showed tremendous determination and continued to improve with every game against some very strong representative teams.

We're incredibly proud of the effort, attitude and resilience shown by every player. Every tournament, every challenge and every experience helps our players continue to develop, and that's exactly what Northern Stars Football Academy is all about.

🌍 Holiday Clinic - Day 1 ✅

A great first day of our Holiday Clinic, with over 40 players taking part in a Mini World Cup. There were plenty of competitive games, quality goals, brilliant saves and fantastic teamwork on display throughout the day.

We also squeezed in a few skills challenges, with the winners taking home pizza vouchers thanks to our mates & sponsors at Domino's Pizza Hervey Bay. 🍕👏

The day finished with an entertaining World Cup Final between England and Argentina, with Lincoln scoring the only goal of the game to crown England champions.

Hopefully that's a good omen for the real thing! 🏆

Tomorrow is shaping up to be another big day with skills training, skills challenges, strength and conditioning, information session (what scouts look for, nutritional advice & how to effectively use social media) and plenty of small-sided games. ⚽️ 34 GAMES DOWN... AND WE'RE NOT FINISHED YET! ⚽️

Yesterday, Northern Stars Football Academy travelled to take on Sunshine Coast Fire in another fantastic day of football against high-quality opposition.

Across the U9 to U12/13 age groups, our players were challenged by strong teams, competitive matches and some outstanding talent on display from both clubs.

But perhaps the biggest story isn't just yesterday's games...
For some of our Northern Stars teams, yesterday marked their 34th game of the season already.

With another four tournaments still to come before the end of the season, some of our players are on track to play more than 60 quality matches this season.

Why does that matter?

Because development doesn't happen in training alone.

Players improve by experiencing different opponents, different challenges, different game situations and different environments. Every match provides another opportunity to learn, adapt and grow.

While many young footballers may play a limited number of competitive fixtures throughout a season, our academy players are gaining invaluable experience week after week against a variety of opposition.

Yesterday's fixtures against Sunshine Coast Fire were another excellent example of that process. High-quality games, plenty of competitive moments and another step forward in the development journey of our players.
